True, the Bligh Government was annihilated, Labor humiliated, and even though Campbell Newman's Government is having a few problems at present, the chance of a return to power for Labor is near on impossible given the 70 or so seat advantage held by the LNP. Voters have long memories, at least in Queensland they do.

They only won seven seats so without the floods they might not have won any! Now that would have been an annihilation.

Spot on SP. She is playing that card well.

Her approval rating will go up after this bush fire disaster.

Liberals must do something soon.

Bit hard for Tone to do "push the flesh" at all the bushfires, he's a NSW FRS volunteer, so he is probably out fighting a fire rather than getting in the way looking for cheap votes.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Yes he is out driving a fire truck at the moment.

He is working on the front line to battle them.

It is better than a pat on the back and a hand shake.

i can't seem to find the 'Abbott must go thread'? or the thread 'both leaders must go'.

I know gillard isn;t good, but surely she's the best option out of the two. Abbott is a fair peanut.

i know this has nothing to do with the bushfire discussion...

The Labor party is dead in Qld, they will be irrelevant for 20 years. Fed labour will lose a lot of seats up there

So Tony won't be expecting your vote then? That leaves Gillard or Greens or some equally as irrelevant independent for you to tick off on voting day.

I would be hesitant to call the independents irrelevant given they hold the balance of power in Federal Parliament at present. You can argue the pros and cons of this but either way it seems pretty damn relevant to me.

We are talking the next election when the Independents will be totally irrelevant and hopefully so will the loopy Greens.

The Loopy Greens are likely to pick up votes from disenfranchised Labour voters.
