Someone who might actually make a difference. Someone who isn't stuck in the 1950s. Someone with some fresh ideas.

Unfortunately, we will get the choice between two parties that aren't really interested in governing for the people and future. More governing to retain power.

that is the system we have and it is no good complaining or trying to change it. It wont happen. So just learn to live with that, pick your side and support the buggars like you do your footy team. Its fun.

i will be voting... I reckon it's a pribilege too... Like i said i'll be voting for the best of a really bad bunch... Gillard isn't to flash as PM, but having abbott in charge is a little frightening...

Never heard of anyone getting fined for not voting. I haven't voted in the last federal, state and territory elections. Not even registered in the NT. I'm sure they will hunt me down at some stage.

Not half as frightening as having the socialist left running the show. Eww! is that a tautology?

Sorry, I can't agree with that. But there's no point debating it.

Agree with that. In many countries (like parts of Africa) people walk for weeks/months just to put a vote in. (many have died too)

I feel it is one of the things we are very lucky to do.

if you dont vote dont go on this forum or talk to people complaining how bad the country is, getting taxed too much or any other issue.

Too me, as you did not vote you are happy with the way things are or really dont care for the future of this country.
Is out of change.....thanks Cambridge Clarrie!!!

Perhaps one might feel that voting legitimatises certain morally reprehensible (and indistinguishable) policies of the major parties, given that a vote in the HoR will flow to one of the two.

Political parties should be made to work hard for our vote, rather than us be forced to vote for them.
