We moved into a rental property last week. Signed the lease and paid over 3k for bond and first month rent. Agent signed off on all the paperwork but just sent an email saying they miscalculated and we owe another $112.

Can they do this if all paperwork has been signed and the bond lodged?

Going to ring tenants union in the morning for advice, but am interested in the SA Footy brains trust opinions.

Does the signed documents mention anywhere that they can do this claiming a mistake? I'm assuming they are fairly standard documents for rental agreements.

simple maths would tell you if it's owed or not, did they ask for 6 weeks rent plus 2 up front? how much is the rent & how much did you pay?

Wouldn't the paper work state the correct amount of bond and rent? eg: bond = 6 x weekly rent & Months rent = 4 x weekly rent.

Shouldn't really be a hard thing to calculate, but if you've signed off on a document which states what each amount should be (bond and months rent) and have paid it and that's what was (verbally) agreed to then I wouldn't have thought they could make you pay the extra. However common sense never usually applies in these situations.

We worked it out prior to signing and our total was the same as the one we got from the agent so we were happy to sign.
Now suddenly a week later we both ( the agent and us) are out by $112? It's not a great amount, but just feels scammy to me!

I have a 50,000 litre pool and I'm finding I am using around 600ml to 800ml each week to keep the PH down.
Just wondering if this seems about right or if Im using too much. The Alkalinity has been sitting around 100-120 ppm all summer, but have let it drop to 80ppm in the last month to see if that helps but I've found its made no difference.
Pool is salt water chlorinated.

While on the topic of pools, mine is leaving green stains on clothes. I thought it might be copper so I have treated the water several times with a stain remover and the copper levels are not very high now (tested) but it still leaves green stains. I don't over chlorinate so it cant be the chlorine.

Any suggestions?

Never had a problem with staining so sorry I can't help.

Generally I don't need to add any chlorine as the chlorinator handles that. Have it running at about 40% and the chlorine levels are always around that 2-3 mark depending on whether its later in the day or not. I did bump it up to 60% during that hot week at the start of January but have obviously pulled it back given the cooler weather.

No worries. Im just trying to work out if the amount I'm using seems normal as this is only my second summer with a pool so Im still getting the hang of it. It's pretty much the only chemical I've had to use in the past 3 months apart from upping the Alkalinity twice. I'm about to buy my fourth 5L container of acid this summer.

That is a fair amount. Might pay to take a sample in and get it tested at a shop. Can't believe you haven't had to use stabilizer.
