SAAFL Website Player Registration

Postby marbles » Mon Feb 04, 2013 10:48 pm

Whats the purpose of the player registration on the league website
http://www.saafl.asn.au/news/league_news/Player_Registration_2013_Season

Whats the benefit a player might gain from logging in

Or is it for just the club committee to update details, and the actual player himself plays no part in the profile??

is it for club administration use only

Will be good to hear the answer for this one. I have seen first hand what it is doing in club land, and the large amount of frustration that it is causing.

Will be great for the EM to try and give us the spin doctoring perspective, or the 'official' slant.

Whether it was Sporting Pulse that have directed this registration, or the SAAFL to just save any office work, will be of interest.

I think you will find that it is a AFL directive that will filter down to all leagues for self registration in the future, but i don't work at the league!

That has already been done. Surely they are not doing that again. It may be about the latest version of sportingpulse.

Hi, you have successfully joined the Pooraka in the South Australian Amateur Football League (SAAFL).

We have issued you with a username and password, you might need this in the future so please retain this email

remember a few years ago on the former site, a player could put up his own photo, nicknames and self descriptions

it was like a personal profile, for fun and for mateship

this sporting pulse rego seems to be more of a submit your details to our database, therefore our league and our club can access your details when required. theres no photos or laughs involved at all

i dont see much fun in it at all for the player

Just wondering whether there is any site (sporting pulse or saafl) where you can find out how many games a player has played. and for what clubs. i.e a player profile.

You can select a player and see what SAAFL games he played in 2012, not sure if they have previous years data yet.

Some players have enough trouble filling details out on a form, image them trying to self rego.

Clubs cant go in and hit a re reregistration button like last season. Yes clubs have every players username and password and could spend a weekend doing them all themselves, but that isnt what the system is about. You would need phone numbers and address of everyone as well.

the easiest way for players who dont understand how to register online is all meet at the club have one laptop set up for rego and another laptop set up just so people can log into hotmails and get passwords etc

thats a fair idea

have someone with a laptop, sit in the club, and each player is called in for 10 minutes to sit down with the laptop person and fills in the detail

but thats a fair job for the laptop person, but at least all details are accessible for the secretary

speaking of which, does our secretary have superior login where he/she can view the full list of players, and possible access the individual or the full list (this could be highly beneficial for the secretary when in need of contacting an individual during the season)

can players be emailed within sporting pulse (yes thats a major ask, but maybe its possible)

At least one person at your club does. I think it depends on how they set up the email prior to sending.
