blokes that play all season and maybe get 1 vote only make up the mumbers, the best on ground votes poll very quickly, cos they stand out to everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Who wins the brownlow - well not Mark Webster or Simon Jones!!
Brownlow is the bloke with the most votes at the end of the season, not the best strike rate...
David Neitz could play 10 games and get 20 votes (avg 2 votes per game) - because no one can take votes off him in a shit team
Chris Judd could play 22 games and get 33 votes (avg 1.5 votes per game) - more consistant over a season and gets votes where plenty of others can take them off him

Would you consider on strike rates David Neitz to be better then Judd?? HELL NO!!! well

In the trots example -

David Neitz = Mark Webster.. only driver for himself and Toby Ryan and both very good trainers
David Harding = Chris Judd.. gets drives from everywhere and drives winners for a lot of different people...

would you then think Mark Webster is better then David Harding.. no way - Just remember
trainers strike rates - great guide to getting winners
drivers strike rates - you're only as good as the aniMal your driving

Spot on SCD

STS football players compete on a level playing field and all players have a realistic
chance to win a medal[as long as they play most of the year as a rule]
Drivers of horses are not
If David Harding got the drives Simon Jones gets and vice versa then you
might see a vast difference in strike rates

you blokes are dreaming!!!!!!!!!!!! your trying to say drivers dont make a diference????????????????????????? the aniMal makes a difference, but the driver certainly wins the race!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! my point being give mark webster or david harding wayne hills drives and i'll bet anything they get more winners!!!!!!!!!!! hes a very ordinary pilot. lokk at all the nice horses he's destroyed by driving them like cars( if you want examples im willing to list them). thats why harding and webster have such good strike rates cos people with good horses put them on cos they know the better drivers will look after their aniMal.
look at jock dunlop, he's luckily for the owners saved baker and the fat man. well done jock,

Drivers do make a difference, but you are trying to say strike rates are everything - they are NOT!!

I don't see Boof driving horses like Kazco, Sweet Chilli, Village Lord etc.. Wayne drives these ordinary horses from the stable and screws over his strike rate.

Bakerandthefatman... you really don't know much do you..
W Hill 4 drives for 1 win 2 seconds and a fourth.. including a win going 2:01.8 - the horses fastest win.. so he can't be that bad a driver!!

I can come up with spot fires here and there...
Nicky Anvil.. 12 starts this season 2 wins..
D Harding 6 drives for 1 win, 1 second, 2 thirds and the win was a $1500 restricted race
W Hill 1 drive for 1 win in a $5,000 saturday free for all race..
does this make Wayne a better driver - NO.. but his strike rate on this horse is better then David... does that come back to your theory??

You say you have examples - well bring them to the forum, don't sit behind a keyboard and character assasinate a bloke like Wayne Hill who gets on shit horses all the time and does a good job considering the horses he drives.

your dreaming! good drivers save ground and give ordinary horses a much better chance. wayne wants to go forward on everything that draws rhe front, and 3 wide on every thing that draws the back, gee he's a tactical bloke.

AND you're examples you said you have are where??
general comments are a load of crap if you can't back them up with examples..
It sounds more like you have a personal issue with Wayne rather then an issue with the way he drives...

I am enjoying this thread immensley
My views

If I had a horse I would want David Harding to be my reinsman
Theres no doubt a good reinsman will improve the horses chances
However David gets the best drives which increases his strike rate appreciably

However if David drove Sherwood Ralph every week ....

In my opinion if
HRYHOREC or Mark WEBSTER drove the same horses David HARDING drove
they would be almost identical in winning drives
I would rate them
HARDING 100
HYRHOREC 99
WEBSTER 98
OTHERS not in equation and between 0-75 in the ratings

HILL about 70

Nice horses?? nice horses don't go to Port Pirie to win $1,500 races unless they are already trained up there like Perfect Lignum!!
If he doesn't hit it - then you say he didn't drive it out and he should have used more vigour..
how can he win when the horse was going like a slug and needed to be wound up??
Even if you think it was a crap drive - you have pulled out 1 example from tonight.. where are the regular drives and good horses that he turns into crap?? still waiting.. will probably still be waiting about this time next millenium from you :!: :!:

THERES A SEARCH PARTY

Postby smarter than simmo » Fri May 18, 2007 10:50 pm

LOOKING FOR mighty aslan, i like it, lombo influence, i'll forget badboy nitro for now cos he ALWAYS LOOKS AFTER IT and gives it easy runs, little dreamers almost had it due to all the easy runs, they were claimers tonight, what about sandys my name, he destroyed it at the trials sunday, and talking about that max's legacy won easy untouched, the same morning. but tonight had to be flogged, in your opinion.

THERES SOME EXAMPLES FOR YA SCAFF,

WE SHOULD HAVE A WHERE ARE THEY NOW SEGMENT, THEY'D PROBABLY ALL APPEAR

which webster ?? because if its boof you are wrong he has been hitting horses as many times as you suggest over the years & i've seen the welp marks afterwards & so they should hit them ask g.webster about all revenge he had to be hit from the start or he didn't put in, it is diifferent horses & different measures on how they are driven
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

I thought I asked for examples of drives.. not horses..

Mighty Aslan is racing in WA and had to go to a shit non-tab track to win a race for another driver
I Like It is racing in WA and has won 1 race for another driver (Chris Lewis - would you call him a bad driver??)
Lombo Influence hit his R5 / C5 mark very quickly and is a one paced horse.. it's not easy winning C5 races running 30 second quarters.... you can get away with it in C3 races.. not C5 class
Badboy Nitro - 14 starts for 9 wins and 5 placings this season.. your point is??
Little Dreamer - 6 starts at Moonee Valley last season.. Wayne drove her twice. ran 2nd both time (including being beaten a bees dick in a Group 1 super sires final).. G Webster drove her 4 times for a couple of 3rds.. so Wayne couldn't have driven her that bad + his drive tonight to get across and find the pegs early was really good.. she smashed all the claimers and the only horse in the home straight at the same time was Perfect Lignum and it won - but is a nice mare..

No matter what stable or driver.. some horses reach a mark where they can no longer win a race.... if you want to get technical - what about horses like Nexus Lad (M Webster trained & Driven) that has won more races for Preston & Russo or Master Smalltime that hasn't won a race for over 4 years, then you just get no good horses like say Sherwood Ralph, Kazco, Theeaglehaslanded or even going back a few years Mincha Tom that just can't win a race...

I think deep down you have a strange obsession with Wayne Hill.. i'm more then happy to ring around and organise a signed photo for you... maybe you could put it on your ceiling and go to sleep looking at Wayne every night :?: :?:

I THINK YOU GOT THAT IDEA FROM LOOKING ON YOUR ROOF, or from your mantle next to the shallow hal poster and dvd, I dont have any obsession, i just think if your going to wrap someone up, make it someone worthy of it. not someone your in love with, your a very shallow person HAL, for someone to wrap him up this much you must be wayne hill, or sleeping with him, 1 of the 2???????????????????????????????????????????????????????? :^o :prayer:
