To win a flag :P

My taxi driver tells me he asked for 500/week and a 3000 sign on as seemed like the going rate! Salis nth must've spent most of their budget as they did chase him.

If you were on double that over the last couple years and were on around that before you left, you would expect to be offered around that again if the club was chasing you, completely different if you have approached the club wanting to come back.

In div 1 footy it is too strong a comp to say they will win the flag.

in recent years which teams have recruited heavily and bought themselves a flag.

I am aware that he did approach SN. Also contacted gaza from what I've been told.

I have heard that St Peters footy budget was almost inline with most SANFL clubs budgets, that might explain why they managed to win a flag in div 1 on their first year up!

It wouldn't be the money - it would be the other fringe benefits like jobs for the boys etc...

I thought that almost all of spoc's players are old scholars.
Didn't think they'd be paying them much at all.
If there's was in line with sanfl teams, then yours would be in line with afl teams.

While an SANFL budget might not be right there was certainly a change in policy on payment a couple of years ago. Basically they didn't and now they do.

You are saying the average wage per player is over $500 per game.

Think the tax man should be investigating 'amateur' sports people after they are finished with the professionals.....

That's pretty accurate on the SANFL wages there GW. My mail was last years budget at SPOC was around 240k. Obviously not all player payments though. That is a huge chunk on cash for an amatuer club. Then again if there is any club that could afford it, it would be SPOC.

By the time you add SAAFL fees, player payments, coaching fees, umpires, trainers, footballs, best player awards, new jumpers etc the total very easily exceeds $100,000

No Disputing that it takes $100k to run a Div 1 Club and that is before the idea of paying players enters the equation.

but to suggest the player payments is $200k is ridiculous

I agree. 200k On whole football budget could be possible. But player spend for them would be close to half of this.

The ave $$ per player in div 1 would be around 180-200? X that by 21 then by 18. Equals something like 70-75k. Plus coach, trainers ect. Don't think it's anywhere near 250k.

I heard they have employed Essendons high performance manager to get them fit.
Him, plus the cost of his supplies, could get the figure to 250k :D

I think Gatt Weasel must work for a bank which every football club uses. Knows so much about everyone's finances. Is an asset to this forum.
