Hey guys,

seems pretty quiet in here still! Now the clearance 'window' has opened are clubs going to start putting them in or hold off and not give anything away?

THE Southern Football League will give umpires blue cards to stop play under a new strategy to stamp out abuse in its mini league matches.
The new strategy similar to the red and yellow card system in soccer comes after the SFL cancelled three junior carnivals last season because of widespread abuse of its umpires.
SFL president Craig Warman said the league's committee, formed at the end of last season to tackle the abuse, had adopted a "zero tolerance" policy heading into this season.
"We're going to be introducing a system, similar to the red and yellow card system in soccer, where if an umpire shows a blue card the game will be immediately stopped and the two co-ordinators from both clubs will go on to the field and investigate the problem," Mr Warman said.
"If it gets to the stage where two blue cards are shown in one game, the game will be stopped and the SFL will investigate.
"There will be a zero tolerance policy in regards to this sort of behaviour and if people continue to behave in that manner, they will no longer be part of the SFL."
The SFL's board of directors called off last year's under-12, under-10 and under-8 carnivals, which were set to be staged at Lonsdale Lions and Hackham football clubs in August.
They cancelled the carnivals after widespread abuse of umpires.
Mr Warman said the league planned to reintroduce the mini league carnivals this year, but would exclude clubs reported for bad behaviour throughout the season.

Also the carnivals will be on 3 seperate Sundays.

Dont mind the blue card, although doesnt seem like there will be a meeting of all coaches/managers/coordinators at the beginning of the season. Would have made sense to lay down the law IMO.

Wouldn't have thought it necessary to lay down the law after last year where it was made clear to all clubs up to President level, what was required in terms of the abuse issue and behavioural issues, although it certainly wouldn't hurt to reinforce with new co-ordinators, coaches etc. I guess they're leaving that up to the individual clubs to control.

SFL Junior committe have pretty much laid down the law. They held a compulsory meeting for all clubs in October last year where presentations were given on each of the following policy documents. I'm sure all clubs are now well aware of requirements for themselves, parents and spectators. Seems to me clubs would logically pass this information onto relevant stakeholders and ensure everyone behaves according to the rules.

1. S.F.L. Parent/Spectator Rule Breach Policy
2. S.F.L. Mini League Club Coordinators Duties and Responsibilities
3. S.F.L. Club Coaches Code of behaviours
4. S.F.L. Club Runner Position Description.
5. S.F.L. – Club Player Play Down Form
6. S.FL. – Club Player Play Up Form
7. S.F.L. Club Team Nomination Form
8. S.F.L. Club Parent Mentor Umpire Program.
9. S.F.L. Junior Player Rotation Policy.
10. S.F.L. Alcohol & Smoke Free Policy at Junior Games and Training sessions.

Seems that it is happening Dutchy, this just arrived in the inbox. There is more in the mail, which presumably clubs will pass down to everyone concerned.

Well there you go, well done SFL, looks like they are deadly serious about it this year, I also hope they have some neutral observers at games.

I hear there is a former HVFC Junior and ex AFL player that has been seen at Taylors Road recently - another good recruit for no points?

Or did they invite out Body Science to promote their products? They openly advertise at these events that they comply with all WADA codes and guidelines.
