WHAT A MATCHUP!!!

Get there early if you want to see Westhoff play as hopefully he'll be kicking the dew of the grass in the 2's ;) ;)

A few things from yesterdays trial at Elizabeth.

Centrals gave away I think four 25 metre and one 50 metre penalty for diisent. Perhaps the umps will be tightening up on this.

The Centrals recruit from Port Broughton Dylan Hewett looks to be a bit raw but talented. Pacy and with confidence probably will hang on to more marks.

Ground in excellent condition and I thought a healthy crowd.

The reserve trial was very one sided. Centrals looked to have fielded a very young and small side.

The league trial was quite an evan contest at times. South tended to kick short to contests too often when there were longer options with the same advantage or disadvantage.

Of the AFL players, Mckernan did little, Otten did a bit more, Hartigan was servicable, Shaw started slowly but dominated late and Dowdell rucked all day bar one two minute break against two opponenets.

Of the new recruits, McDonald had the ball a lot and used it well, Ah Chee played forward and is like a bulked up version of Froggy Davey, Seccul sustained a calf injury after one quarter, Jordan Taylor was quiet and Eddy was good.

South have not had a side with this much height ever. There is competition for key spots which bodes well.

The SANFL needs to come out in the next month or so and tell all supporters what it intends to do with reserves AFL sides. If they give port and crows a ressies side in the SANFL, then I along with many other supporters will walk. I wont go to ANY footy games live or take my kids.

Taking to a few Bays supporters y'day and they also said that they'd not renew memberships for their clubs and give the game away.

NO SANFL reserves sides at all AND players who are to leave SANFL clubs must go reverse ladder order not to the Powers choice of clubs which is now very very obvious.

If the SANFL dont step in then expect mpre Henry Slattery deals with the magpies in the future. Time to step up SANFL directors and SANFL club directors and let the public know your intentions - No more pandering to our AFL clubs

@ Doc At Richmond they were very quick on the 25 and 50 metre penalties too. Umpire paid a mark to Glenelg and a West player said "I clearly touched that first" and the umpire paid a 50 metre penalty. Didn't swear, so I think your right that any talk back will not be tolerated.

Don't hold your breath
The SANFL (quite rightly too I might add) will be waiting until the end of the season and they have had a chance to see how it worked in the WAFL with Peel and East Perth to see if there is merit in introducing AFL reserves team into the SANFL. The WAFL are our guinea pigs

I reckon it might not be until 2015 if it happens.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

I think the league was pretty clear before Christmas that this matter is off the table until AFL is at Adelaide Oval and the licences are sold.

I also agree that the new WAFL structure which is only fully implemented in 2014 will be watched with interest.

With what the AFL and its clubs are currently doing to the WAFL, I think it is more apt to say that the WAFL is the AFL's guinea pigs. All that's missing is a roll of duct tape.

Didn't think the umpires could be any stricter on this. In the last few years every second week I've seen a 25m pen given for no doubt something absolutely trivial. How many more silly directions are going to be given to the SANFL umpires this year I wonder...

Its a disaster waiting to happen. The WAFL as we know has been changed for ever by this grab for cash by a weak kneed effort by East Perth, Peel and the WAFC by alllowing themselves to be bullied by the West Coast & Fremantle
2017, 2019 & 2020 PREMIERS
RICHMOND, RICHMOND, RICHMOND.

Let that be a lesson to you Sturt. You don't beat Glenelg 3 times in a row in Grand Finals and get away with it.

Don't make me laugh. The SANFL clubs have been plundering the coffers of the two AFL clubs for 20 years and now you cr@p on about pandering?

I reckon Ben Newton will look pretty good driving to Magpies training in his new Renault!

History has shown that SANFL coaches have a pretty good idea about the capabilities of these fringe AFL players. In some cases, this knowledge is better than the AFL coach themselves because they coach them in match situations every week. I would suggest if the SANFL coach thinks thinks they are not good enough for SANFL level or are not suited for a particular position then the AFL club take some notice. It is very, very rare for a fringe AFL player to switch clubs in the SANFL and flourish. 90% of the time they end up on the dung heap.

How can you argue with someone who'd actually post this?
'People are not stupid. They know when they are being conned. And two reserves teams operating in a League competition will reduce it to a farce, a competition without a soul.'
