How did the day go Q?

******* hot.

Not sure of score in the end, think Sedan got up in the second game, but it have us a chance to have a good look at all the new players and try a different things.

Seadan have only beaten Callington (who we know are a basket case)over the last couple of years, so what does this say about Houghton? Sedan get thumped by everyone bar Callington, could be a long season Q?,although trial games are just that.

Sedan also beat Macclesfield last year!!

With the team they fielded, about as good as some of the mid-range D6 teams from last year. Midfield was their strength.

Sedan had a couple of good forwards aswell, the one who played CHF most of the second game was a standout for me he didnt have much of a frame on him yet but moved well and took some good grabs. Their ruckman battled hard all day fair effort to ruck in all 6 qtrs.
No idea on how many where missing out of that side and not sure of the quailty of thier comp to give a good apprisal on how they might go.

Will be interesting to see over the next couple of weeks the impact of some of the recruits/losses listed above.

I'm presuming most teams would be having a trial this weekend?

No trial for us, will be sitting by the banks of the river resting my weary legs. Coming back Sunday to catch the ML vs IF game though.

Seems to be the only trial featuring a team in this grade this weekend (*that anyone is willing to fess up to)

Good to hear that you are embracing the Riddler/Knowles cup Q, I might even stop by for a look & a can of coke for this!

Do many teams still play intense internal trials?

Or mainly try and find opposition for their hit outs?

Did 9-a-side internal for the 30-odd blokes that could make it. Not as intense as other trials, but a good opportunity to start executing skills under pressure.

Yeah, I prefer this kind of format to full on internal trials. Good way to simulate the pressure without the full on intensity of a full on hit out.
I always prefer to play against other teams, I tend to not want to try bury a team mate in a full on tackle.
