I went for a quick flick last night couldnt wait till Sunday to try out my Arid combo . So I went down the pat for a few flicks . Must have taken hits from every small Bream in the Pat!!
First fish landed a ST
Image
Finally a bream tiny
Image
Then I lost a bigger one and I had to go home I was running late :D
Got to say its a very light combo and feels great and one handed casting :D.
Think I've worked out the SP's a bit more last night lost some to tails being bitten off !!!

Cool looking combo...I thought the Aird came with a crappy t-handle..knobs are so much better so good choice.

I was hoping to get down to catch up one Sunday Mick as you have been so supportive, but you have gone all high tech on me. You wouldn't be seen dead with me now with that cool gear?
Hoping to get back on the road/water again this week! Perhaps I will still be with the Flick!

Alaska after last nights footy  Id rather be fishing ;) .Give you a little tip soft plastics is a bit like Fly fishing .
Cast count to 10 or 20 couple of turns let it sink and repeat ;)
And I think this combo was cheaper than my shimano sedona 2500 combo and feels much nicer !!

OK so I hit the Pat this morning and found I had the entire place to myself fishing wise . Landed a total of 8 Bream
This is the largest at 34cms believe me my heart was going 100 miles an hour when i was landing this one !!
Image
And me trying to hold it !!
Image
At this point all i can say that was a rush the new combo performed fantastic and the rod had a huge curve in it !!.Better than the hook took this pic when I got home .
Image
So that was the biggest Bream of the day and here is the smallest I've caught in years .It Was the same length as the grub I was using !!
Image

So I had fun today did take a few minutes to gather my breath after that first fish !!! And once again thats as near as you can get to Fly Fishing for bream without fly fishing for bream lmao.

Cheers

Postby Dols » Thu Mar 21, 2013 11:21 pm

So all this reading of this forum got me thinking that I wanted to catch my first bream on a lure.

So last week I headed down to the lake on 3 occasions. Bream are everywhere but gee they didn't like me.

So mickys posts have me down at the Pat on Wednesday morning. Lost a lure to a snag early then pick up a small salmon trout. Using a. Ecogear sx40 at this stage when a small bream about 25cm knocks it off, nice first one landed.

Keep going till I get all the way back around and nothing. About to ho home when I decide to have a crack on the bottom with my orange shimano metal vibe, glad I did!!! 2nd cast and knocked off by a 32-33 cm bream, sweet. Then for next 45min fish after fish till I lose that lure in a snag.

That "strange, bottom feeding thing" is a Bridled Goby (Arenigobius bifrenatus) mate.

A bloody rare catch on a lure!! How long was it?? They grow to around 180mm. Looks huge!

Micky is drolling that spotted fish has been attacking my HB's and Sp's for weeks
I had a weekend in melbourne and one of my female mates was showing me her pictures of the murray cod she was catching with her bloke 60cms and he was getting bigger !!

I read an article on catching bream in clear water you know the bream you can see .You must use a leader the length of your rod or longer .And cast at them !!
Seems ive been doing that for awhile .

I'll get down the pat sometime this weekend footy starts another female buddy wants coffee oh the life of Mickyj .Singing and dancing with women from 21 to over 50 last week front row of a pub band to flicking a SP at bream cant get much better !!
Oh and I spotted mark berg from that fishing show at adelaide airport monday he was gone to quick to say hi
