This new rule is interesting but a positive step. We are in the process of applying for re-registration for one of our players, but this may change our minds. Our player has 20 weeks (one suspension, as a spectator) and we have to go to the community footy board to have it heard.

Maybe not now under these new rules.

So the league listens to the clubsa and now there's a right of appeal and everyone is still whinging.

Not everyone FC........ [-X

Ok the people from the clubs who had people banned complained then

I didn't know you went to delegates meeting Cohiba ;)

So SMOSH would be happy if one of their players was de-registered and wasn't allowed to have an appeal held?

FC......where did I say was unhappy with an appeal process .......... I just made the point not all of us are whinging because of it........ :) and yes I have fronted up to tribunals and delegates meetings at Tynte Street and Thebbie when truth, justice, and Aussie way needed to prevail.........and yes if I categorically knew a player from my club or any club was "deservedly" deregistered in breaching codes of conduct and the rules....I would not allow him back in.........and as our champion of anonimity.....what makes you think I'm from SMOSH..... 8)

IMO you get 12 weeks, bad luck mate because you are a thug and shouldnt be playing football at any level. what is going to happen if the league lets a 12 weeker back in and this bloke gives someone a perment injury for life............this will end in court (duty of care)

Some of the 12 weeks have been accumulated over 10+ seasons of football.. throw I'm club umpires and automatic suspensions from certain sending offs, it's a broad brush to label them all as thugs

Then why be let back in at all? Makes a bit of a mockery of the initial rule in the first place doesn't it?

Get 12 games suspension - we'll kick you out of the league
Appeal - we might let you back in, but stuff up and we'll punish the WHOLE entire club you're playing for!

I really don't understand the logic behind it?

Should have elaborated more, the rules should be strict if you are being let in if the league are going down that path. But if it was my decision, 12 games suspension is enough chances and you don't belong in the sport. If one of these players allowed in does anything to me the SAAFL will be paying for it I can garauntee that.
I have a problem. It's to do with the little man, the squashed-in French man, the naked little squashed up hairy boy! You know! With the hand feet

...throw I'm club umpires and automatic suspensions from certain sending offs..????????? wtf

Interesting mickey.......how hard and how often over what period of time can a player "smack" someone before we can label him a thug??? agree with Q.... rather than a slow learner...... I would think terminal......

Don't see a problem with the strictness of this. Most of us will play a lifetime without or minimal suspension, to receive 12 weeks over who cares how many years suggests only two things - serial offender or thug. No room in Amateur sport for either. I think clubs won't touch this with a ten foot pole, possible consequences far outweigh the contribution of one player.

Based on not trusting the system or some of the people who run it, then you would have little choice, but to not allow the player to play, as it could well cost clubs a premiership as S. Demon suggested.

Video reporting using $50 cam corders, ridiculous penalties for guys doing very little, with some having unblemished records and over 200 games, and a whole lot more, make the tribunal a Kangaroo Court in its present format. There seemingly is more of a need to appease sponsors by not losing funding, and appease life members as opposed to giving an honest system and one beyond reproach.

Still crying about the thug from your club who quite deservedly received a substantial suspension when video evidence was submitted? You have a very narrow view if you think a tribunal system made up purely by professional people volunteering their time are there to 'appease sponsors and life members'. Get a grip.

Clearly you are no rocket scientist. Thug - hardly. Over 200 games and never reported and at best should have got 3-4 games. Professional people - hardly (some are but certainly not all). One of the people on the tribunal that regularly sits, has been caught red handed before telling porky's which will be discussed during the season, along with other tribunal carryings on. Make no mistake, what happened in the past with certain individuals will be discussed at length. Whats worse is the people in power actually know of some indiscretions and have elected as yet to do nothing. Some have been weeded out, but some have not and they will be exposed.

Almost seems that when this rule was brought in everyone was dead against it until the people that it actually stopped playing were made clear, 12 games is a lot of games of the journey, I have played nearlly 300 SAAFL games and have never once been sent off or reported, never saw the need to get out there and play dirty. If you look back over the guys that have been deregistered they have nearlly all been repeat offenders and I for one am happy that these types are not in the game anymore. If a player has been deregistered because they got sent off too many times, easy fix shut your mouth and play within the rules.

the way i look at it is majority of the guys getting over 12 weeks is guys that get done twice, like 6 and 6 etc. If you got a player that has been reported twice and has gotten 12 weeks then kick them out and never let them back in. The guys that are 1 and 2 games here and there, seriously how many times do they need to be reminded? If you havent learnt after 6 times you deserve to not be let in. 12 weeks is more then enough for the guys that are doing anything seriously to get life banned, and the guys that only have 1 or 2 suspensions more then likely deserved to be locked up.
We're on this journey together, One Heart, One Club and they will Never Ever Tear Us Apart.

if you happen to get reported for 12+ games, whether it's one big suspension or multiple reports well seeya later... No time for this BS in our great game... Gutless pieces of sh*t!
