A lot of 'love' for the Emus in here. Will be interesting to see how they go under Ben Coleman in his second year. Given the departures last year, I thought he did pretty well with what he had. Can anyone shed any light on their new recruits for this year?

So Joe Blow, Fred Bloggs and Fred Nerk all turned down the big money offers then?

Hey for what it's worth....1stly I'm not aligned to any club.....and from what I've seen it's time for some positive posts about this great game of ours.

I saw 3 A grade trials this year that I'd like to offer comment on

Edwardstown v mt compass..........great free flowing running game with a couple new faces in each team.....my opinion...middle of the road in their respective comps but with luck who knows

Port noarlunga v iron bank ........porties improved over last year.....finish further up the ladder

Morphett vale v onkas........no obvious new faces at morphies except one........strong reliance on home grown......kids are a year older so who knows

Looking forward to the season ahead. Quality weather for round 1 and some competitive match ups.
TBH reckon the top 8 will be similar to last years with the real question being have any of the 2012 non final teams improved significantly enough to push for the 8.

Lonsdale by 4 goals. Marion have to start to think if its worth having a level 3(so called) coach if your going to let Lonsdale's better players run free and unmarked for the whole match. Asks for alot of money, has outlayed a lot of time, but his ideas are outdated, don't work, he will not last with these plans, as its painful to watch,please....please bring to the table someone who bleeds for Marion FC, and put in someone at the club who will lead them to play a style that is both structured and respected from both players and supporters. A tough year for a semi talented group.

Agreed but I reckon he also pushed up into the midfield at times. Very hard at the contest, too. He and Shane Bradshaw a class above the others

Does anybody know what criteria the SFL use to allow junior footballers to play down a grade?? IE: Under 18 aged footballer playing under 16, Under 16 playing under 14??

Yep, have to make an application to the SFL, but rarely accepted unless there is exceptional circumstances. You can imagine the issues this would possibly cause, which is why it is rarely allowed.

A few interesting results this week. Nothing spoken about Towns in the pre-season it looks like they may be this seasons surprise packets after a comfortable win V Porties. Christies look like they will continue to improve, Crate is doing a great job there. I expected Shoes to win but the margin was a shock & the Roos continue their rise with a win over the Emu's. High scoring affair @ Shark Park does anyone know how many points Aldinga fielded on Saturday, it looks like they had a truck-load of imports?
