It was actually Port that demanded to stay in the SANFL in their submission for the sub-licence during the tendering process. Keep trying to rewrite history.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

Port wanted to stay on the SANFL.
The SANFL made Port stay.

Rewrite history? Unlikely when there will always be two versions. :D

Cheers Booney.

With these extra players coming to the Magpies, I wonder how their Salary Cap will fare this year?

Also what will happen if the teams do play in the reserves, dont make the finals but their AFL big brother make finals, all players that are not playing AFL finals will get no match practice.

Or alternatively, the Reserves side makes the finals but the AFL side fails to do so. Mysteriously the entire reserves side comes down with season ending injuries and forfeits?

It was the SANFL Commission that demanded the winning bidder maintain a presence in the competition as part of the Tender process. Port Adelaide supported that as part of their submission.

Upon winning the bid, SANFL CLUBS started rumbling about kicking Port out of the SANFL, upon which Brian Cunningham stated "over our dead body".

I can understand people being narky at Newton and Butcher, but not Young. Played 9 SANFL league games and 12 AFL games last year. No reserves. Are we meant to believe that a player who did not play SANFL reserves last year, who played very good SANFL football last year, who was an emergency for the Round 1 AFL match last week, is not good enough to play SANFL league for a middle of the road SANFL club? Bull shit. North playing funny buggers and now people are whinging (again) about a player moving. So we bloody should move him.

Personally, the SANFL clubs are making it clear they dont want Port listed players and are essentially saying yes, have your club as the AFL reserves team.

So are you saying North named Young in the reserves to spite him and/or the Power?

Why would a former Port Power "champion" play funny buggers with a Power player? More likely with Central not having too many tall forwards that match ups was the problem. Would North play Young or club Captain Gallman? Gallman wins everytime

named as a emergency 2 weeks in a row and get put in the reserve side, that makes heaps of sense to me.

The fact is that it seems so easy for Port to move players from an SANFL club to their (Port's) aborted mutant club.

I actually don't give a rats because the creature will die at the end of the year but it makes amusing reading in this thread.

If Young really were in North's best 21, why would Francou not pick him? Does Francou, as coach of NAFC, want to win football matches, or does he want to spite Port Adelaide? Seems to me that the fact he was not picked is in and of itself clear evidence that he was not in the best 21.

As of next year this is what is going to happen every week with Power players who are emergencies so why is this year any different?
