The Michael Tuck of Fitzroy  Well done to Matt - just another example of the loyalty of the Nelson name to the club.
Don't play games with a girl who can play 'em better...

Who would have thought that Richie Cunningham would play 300 games?! On a serious note, Matthew Nelson has been a great player for the Roys for many years and is deserving of the accolades. I hope you have a good one mate and enjoy the day with a good win.

Credit also to Trinity for allowing the Roys to have the game at home.

Beat me to SS!

Tomorrow, Fitzroy Captain Matthew Nelson will play his 300th Senior Game for the Fitzroy Football Club.
Matt has been an outstanding leader of the Fitzroy FC for many years now- he is always one the first to welcome a new player to the club, whether the player is an A or Z grader, and his deication to his game and fitness is scond to none.
Over the years I daresay he's fielded (and rejected) offers to play elsewhere for a bit of coin, but he's stuck with the Lions through thick and thin.
Matt started his junior career as a bit of an ordinary footballer (that's being kind ;)), but he blossomed in his later years when it counts.
A great leader of the club, he won't be easily replaced when he does decide to retire- the next skipper has big shoes to fill.
Richie Cunningham/Nicole Kidman/Fire Crutch/Fanta Pants- congratulations!

The running machine is like a fine wine & getting better with age & currently probably playing his best footy of his career,
Congratulations Matt as 300 x games down & only another 300 x games to go ;)
IT'S US AGAINST THEM!!!

Congrats to Matt Nelson. Great to hear that he has developed into such a great footballer. Tomorrow I will get to see it for the first time since I played junior footy at Fitzroy back in the early-mid 90's in the grade above him. I wish him all the best, but we are planning upset his celebrations by leaving with a win.

That was a long time ago now and doesn't mean much when we take the field today.
He never set the world alight as a junior, that's for sure, but I admire his loyalty and the fact that he's developed into such a consistent player for the Roys over such a long period. You don't play 300 games of A Grade football if you're not half decent.

Keep a lid on it fellas, NH Bs a goal I think and the As up by 7 points. Tough games and great wins, awesome to get the 2 points in both hitouts.

People?? U mean 1 person? And that one person was me an ex C grader who gives both grades the same pump up every year to get a bite on here.
Believe me the guys in both sides know its gonna be a good hard year, and certainly dont go to places like North Haven expecting a Win.

considering I don't think Trinity have ever played at Mount Fitzroy...exactly.

(feel free to correct me if I'm wrong)

the Tossers however, tend to be massive radar dodgers and quite often are underestimated by many.

I heard that the score on sporting pulse was wrong and the Roy's won by a few goals. Don't shoot the messanger

Yeah, unfortunately we went down by about 3 goals. Was an arm wrestle all day long but when the game was on the line in the last 10 mins, Fitzroy used the footy better and scored 3 quick goals to break the game open. Congrats again to Matty Nelson on a great career so far. Was one of their better players again today. Also thanks to Fitzroy for their hospitality after the game.
