Rnd 6: Eagles v South @ Maughen Thiem Hyundai Oval (Sun 5/5)

Postby Big Phil » Sun Apr 28, 2013 9:38 pm

The Eagles had a solid win at home against the Magpies and will want to play well at home again. The Panthers, coming off yet another home loss, have to be a chance in this one as it is not being played at Noarlunga. The in-form Andrew Ainger faces his former club for the first time as well, which will be interesting...

must have plenty of money down at oval ave. Ainger 50k and pretty sure Pazz would have worked you over for a few more bob to stay the extra year,(he did that to us several times too, and probably Port as well)- he's probably on similar coin. Doesnt leave much for the rest of the playing group does it?
Carey, well if hes playing league you must have an injury list as long as the Port Rd. ;)

Who cares Parry helped the Eagles win a flag . Lets be realistic he was never going to do that at South or Port !!
Ainger has fitted in nicely seeing Grocke is injured !! Just ask Ports backmen
Nathan Daniel my mail you payed out a hell of a lot for an unwanted Eagles seconds player !!

Any more you'd like to discuss Blue and White ?
How many games have south won this year so far?

Payments of even $40k have been gone for 5 years. $30k is more the mark these days for marque players.

No macca, cicca, shirley,Eddy and Grieger freed up Aingers pay packet and enabled us to convince Parry for 1 more year.

Ainger when he was shopping himself around prior to the Eagles taking the bait was asking certain clubs for far more than $30K!

Looks like a win win from the grandstand. Kicking goals and winning games isnt that the idea?

Taking the bait should be more directed to Kirk from the bays, not a highly paid match-winner.

Ainger and Carey cost the Eagles 92K in total for the year (includes 15K in transfers), thus 77K for the pair (they came as a package). We got to see the offer which we would not match/better.

Not sure what the problems are with Ainger. From an Eagles supporters point of view he is doing just fine! Importantly it also allows Grocke to get his body right instead of playing him out of desperation. Better than paying someone who doesn't perform - and we've had a few of those over the last few years.

Anything that was paid for Parry was worth it. His performances have been high quality since he's been here, including on the biggest stage.

South have let a few quality players go. I hope the South supporters enjoy reading their financial statements over the off-season, while other clubs with South recruits watch Grand Final DVD's.

I think you will find the problem with Ainger is the club (South) supported his move from Canberra in 2011. Set him with a absolute "plum" job with the SANFL, got him a home etc....etc....

He did his ankle in 2012 and South supported him 100 % for the season.

Then he shopped around behind the clubs back and went to all clubs "whoring himself" around.

Eagles paid top dollar and he would not go without his little mate (Carey).

Poor IMO.

Thats part of the issue we have!!!
