They beat Westies and the Bays and had a great, but very lucky (in terms of scoring shots), win over Port and suddenly it was 1965 all over again. They'll certainly be competitive but if real deal = top 3 then I'd say definitely no for 2007. Possibly top 5 threat tho.

They have yet to play Eagles and Centrals after North easily did them today.

What expected ladder position qualifies a team as the "real deal" BTW ????

I don't think any of us ever called Sturt the "Real Deal". Us Sturt folk were indeed very pleased with the start we had, but to most of us it was as though we were simply performing beyond expectations. Unfortunately that has turned out to be true. Before the reality of these past two losses hit everybody, however, it has to be said that our first three wins did a lot more than raise a few eyebrows amongst all teams' supporters. We did get excited about it, but hey we are footy followers enjoying the moment. I just want to know who the clown was that ever asked the question "Are Sturt the real deal?"
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail

If/When Sturt get the funds to compete with other club's and they keep Rick Macgowan on board there's no doubt they'll be around the mark, they've been fighting above their weight all year and have done a fabulous job at it.
Great to have a quick word with Rick before the game, the guy is all class and Sturt should do everything in their power to hang onto him.
Real deal this year?
Maybe not.
Real deal in years to come?
Yes if they hang onto Rick.
