Has this been happening long? Depending on the make of your shower, it can take a whole but water will be trapped towards the top. The head of the shower falls a bit under the weight of the water and that remaining water comes out once the shower head is low enough. This happens in my shower from time to time. Have you watched it do it?

That's exactly what happens, both shower heads. Yes, it has been happening for a while and will happen even if the shower heads don't fall.
What get's me is what causes the pressure build up (or release) when the taps are sealed? Faarked if I know.
