Remind us all, what was the exact score of the Qualifying final in the 'dogs first premiership year?

Centrals 22.11.143
Port 10.10.70

Thanks for asking, Pseudo...

I understand were people are coming from, but I think we should be celebrating the fact that our league allows for era's and rivalries, unlike the AFL.

Good to know that Central have a better record in Grand Finals than Port. Five from nine gives us 55.56% compared to their 55%.

I have Central there as almost certainties (only a terrible spate of injuries or divine intervention of some sort) but I still think North and Port have legitimate claims of making it to the GF (as do the Eagles of course)

What a strange idea  After about 15 losing finals in a row the football gods finally decided to restore justice into the SANFL and the doggies won about their next 7 or 8 finals in a row 8)

I agree with this. Let's not make our league too contrived to make it more even. If sides are good enough, they'll usuarp the era of dominance in their own natural course.

Far too early to make a call. Do not forget that after Round 6 last year, we were written off by almost all football scribes as being no hope to make the GF. All sides are still well and truly in it this year.

Port might have had that GF invinicbility feeling, they don't have the Finals invincibility feeling anymore. And that 'changing of the guard' as I like to call it, started with the match Pseudo recalled. To resume that GF invincibility feeling Port had, they need to make one first.

Yep, you've convinced me Spelly

Centrals now are arguably the new bench-mark anyway and Port have a ways to go yet to even make a GF

I have to say it would be nice to see Port lose a SANFL GF. They have managed to avoid this great Centrals era and so keep their great GF record intact. Some part of me still thinks the Doggies deserve/need the ultimate credibility of beating the Magpies in a GF. Don't know why I still see that as the measuring stick, it makes no sense as all you can do is beat whatever opponest is left in the last day of the year.

No disrespect to the Eagles intended ....

Dont blast me for this - but

Could you imagine if Port made it and got over the line on the day - What happen to us all ???

I think, sadly, it will be yet another Central v Eagles GF. My outsider would be North, if and when they can get their attitude, tactics and consistency at the level it needs to be to win flags.

I am again, like last year, tired of hearing Port being touted as the next best chance to Central. Port are grossly overrated.

Central, Eagles and North will be top three without a shadow of a doubt. Port, Sturt, Norwood and South, as I have said many times on this forum, will vie for a spot in the elimination final and unfortunately for both sets of supporters, West and Glenelg will have to look to 2008.

Aaaarrrggghhhhh :vom: #-o :vom: #-o

It happened like that a few times before ... 94, 96, 98 when they weren't clear favourites - it was someone else's year, etc. '94 and '96 the Eagles and Doggies respectively gave them a caning in the 2nd semi and then it all went pear-shaped on the big day.

Not again ..... no ..... please

I think you hit the nail on the head there, joker. Get all your players on the park, healthy and in form and you might start to look like a team that might beat us. Unfortunately for all that to happen the stars will have to align. Roosters should be working on players and system that can beat us regularly, and not a set of ideal circumstances to have a chance.
