What about when you through the cash around at our club. Brought in your golden child's gave them the world but couldn't produce a flag and then spat the dummy and left? Similar situation.

Bingo - so its ok for you to have a crack at other clubs? :?

At the end of the day - spending money in SAAFL is not beyond the rules anymore so I really don't know why people still want to make such a big deal about it. - especially when their clubs (or ex clubs) have been guilty of the same thing in the past.

Not saying they were luv BUT obviously, just like the majority of other div 1/2 clubs (which you were back then) there was obviously some cash being thrown around.

Most clubs would have to splash around a certain amount of cash, even now, to maintiain any type of competitiveness at that level.

there is no salary cap now though, so I'm not sure why everyone is hoo-haring over it, except for maybe wishing they had the same amount of money to play with - and that's my point ;)

I agree. Its less about players getting paid or how much their paid. Its more about the have's and have not's....ie those Clubs whose infrastructure generates more income than those who generate less. You cant spend it unless you have it (usually). It seems the gripes come from the have not's or those disaffected in some way. The AFL is much the same in many ways. IMO I'm sure if Hope Valley had a benefactor with spare 100K each season you would have been in Divvy one 6 years ago.....(and maybe fixed your oval) ;)

Exactly. Look at professional sports all round the world. The bigger clubs with the money are generally the more successful ones. And good on em I say for getting their club to that position where they can get that success. I know we are only amateurs, but the point still remains.
Do you see the smaller clubs overseas pissing and moaning about what those bigger clubs are paying? No, they just deal with it and accept it.
It's just the way it is, so I think we need to stop making such am issue of it. Good on these clubs if they can afford it, and good on those players if they can get it.

I am sure though that if some of these critics clubs ever got themselves into a strong enough position financially, that in no way would they throw any money at any recruits to try and better their side and be successful in the upper divisions

Exactly. Just look at Indiana in the NBA. Yearly salary is what some clubs are paying 3 players and still getting it done. Sure it's harder but got to use the cards you are delt. By the way I don't think Salisbury north are paying X amount of extra dollars then anyone else. Bare in mind the kids of the last 3-4 years are now 22-24 years old and have played 50+ A grade games. I think their rise to the top was always going to happen. Oh and the likes of Jordan and camplin Sajwicz ect coming back to the club helps. ;)

Success is mentioned a bit in this post, so where is it ? A Div 11 premiership ?
