You're on the money. Yes, this is being considered.

Just kick both clubs out of the league.....problem solved!! Both clubs have got terrible track records.

Howd ya figure that mate?

Well if i was the coach and with the game so close to finals i wouldn't play, i would forfeit the game.

Just as well your not the coach then!!!

Yes how silly of me if i was the coach to be thinking of the safety of my players that i am in charge off.

Someone had to push the right button.......
Hefty, you obviously were not there and have no idea. IFFC will not be dragged into this. Our supporters did absolutley nothing wrong except support their team. What happened from a very large group of Smithfield supporters was the most craziest thing i have ever witnessed at a football match and nothing further should be said about it. Smithfield and the SAAFL need to sort this out very quickly before any more innocent people are hurt at future football matches. Please don't drag our club into this because if you were there you would know the truth we have nothing to answer for.....end of story.

How do we stop it from happening again? Do we need to go down the track of having dedicated areas for opposition supporters?

I don't understand how it happens either. The Mitchell Park FC are not scholars of the highly order of good behaviour, yet we have never had anything like this, or even remotely close, happen during a game.

What were the pre-cursors? Alcohol? Night game? Spiteful game?

What were the match officials doing?

I just do not understand. It is very sad.

FFS, lets be realistic about this - if you were one measley Match Day Offical, I don't think you wouldve had much luck telling these certain supporters to behave themselves

Unless you know the full story you could not understand what occured and that there was nothing anyone could do. 12 cop cars it took. Morrell, throughout our years at MP and IF we had probably thought we had seen a bit, but this left me blown away. Never seen anything like it at a football match. Enough said.

He was on to it pretty quickly & called the police. He probably could have expressed the extent of it to 000 a bit better. 2 police cars at the start was never going to be enough.

Lets all move on. There are innocent victims involved here and they probably don't want the attention focussed on this. The people who need to know , know what occurred so lets see if the league has the Balls to take the appropriate action.

Yep happened off the park between non footballers had nothing to do with either club.

Apparently 5 police cars were already at the ground and were very slow to react.

That info comes from the wife of a player who was at the ground

Given the way Henley D grade are travelling compared to C grade, does anyone think there is a chance that some of these D graders might find themselves higher in the second half the season?

Could Henley make a late charge to the 5??

Absolutely... To take it one step further......any intervention by a designated match day official into any kind of physical unpleasantness where injuries (serious or otherwise) were sustained by him or her, could have repercussions against the SAAFL re compensation for failure of duty of care toward officials..... We know this to be true for e.g."umpires".......who if they cop a serve, verbal or physical, are afforded protections and are given licence to dispense penalties as they see fit..... I'm not sure if Match Day Officials have that kind of leverage, and even if they did, mob mentality will not prevent them from getting "smacked" or worse for trying to do the right thing.

So Morell's comment regarding the absence of the Match Day Official was not well considered IMO.

At the end of the day, they are public grounds and we really don't have control over who comes and watches.
