Which is exactly what you're doing...
How so? I haven't mentioned any of the clubs, individuals or groups by name nor have I apportioned any blame to anyone.
This is an issue which affects the wider SAAFL community. I am a part of that community. I have friends and family attend my games to watch me play. My girlfriend is already wary of attending games away from Mitchell Park because of this.
We cannot have people afraid of attending SAAFL games. Or playing in them.
In addition, we keep on focussing on the night itself and the inability of the clubs to act. We should be focussing on why these people were there in the first place, what caused them to assault people and how we can stop them from attending a SAAFL game ever again
Good luck with that, let me give you some answers:
Because they can.
Because they can
And we can act.
Step 1 - Find out who they are associated with from the clubs involved. Ban those players. Find out their names, provide them to the police and ban them, when they turn up, call the police. They would be pretty stubborn to want to go through the police to watch a Div 7 game when no-one they know is playing.
Step 2 - Reschedule all home games to Thebarton and get the clubs to provide a guest list. Hire security to ensure no-one else can attend. Ban alcohol.
Step 3 - Double, triple, quadruple security.
Step 4 - If it turns out there are too many people associated within the clubs involved for them to field a team, so be it. Fold them.
Step 5 - Hire a tank?
Maybe some or none of those are appropriate but I cannot stand this attitude current prevalent on sa footy that it's all hopeless, all is lost, and we've been bullied into a situation we cant control. Lets just move on, concentrate on footy and hope it doesn't happen again.
Stuff that Lisa! Fire up! Where there is a will there is a way.
and how we can stop them from attending a SAAFL game ever again
You can't and I'd like to see you try
Cmon, if we can put a man on the moon we can stop people attending a SAAFL game.

I think you underestimate the power of a community and the hive mind if it decides to work together and act. I know the folks at the SAAFL would be doing their best, lets talk about ways we can all assist...

I agree.
