Firstly, I abhor deliberat violent acts on the field. It gets me angry no matter from what team they come. My record as a coach would support this as I always dragged a player who I considered had stepped over the line whether or not it had been noted by the umpire.

Harden Up - I consider myself a fair minded person. The incident you are talking about was not intentional. Your emotions may cloud your view on this one. Free kick yes, reckless - maybe, intentional - no.

DTH - Completely agree with you in that I have seen two "David Hookes", third man in, king hits this year where there has been no action taken by any official. Throw either one of those punches in a nightclub or on the street and you end up in Court. It puzzles me to see how these incidents aren't treated more seriously. If the umpires don't see it or don't act the Club should. Other side of the white line and these acts are a crime but inside the line it's only a bit of biff?

LGIL - You witnessed one of the king hits I did this year. It was cheered on buy the supporters around us and the player was not dragged to tell him that that sort of behavior was not on. Are you saying that If he actually seriously hurt the guy he hit only then action should be taken?

afc9798 - I reckon the trainer DTH refers to is a trainer that I have seen strap a U14s player's thumb with a smoke hanging out of his mouth. Same guy that was yelling abuse at one of our 18yo A Graders after he was leaving the field dazed after being cleaned up (massive hit but fair).

We'll agree to disagree on intent. Primary reason for further reference is to highlight, by an umpire not paying a free kick in the instance of a player being knocked unconscious, in front and clear view of the umpire, they are implying that act is acceptable, thus leaving umpire and SFL in a precarious position regarding Duty of Care and Negligence.

I certainly agree a free kick was due.

I also hope the lad is OK.

Never said they should not be treated seriously, just that the Tribunal is the domain of the Umpire, the field is the domain of the Clubs and Players. Said individuals should never get away with it, but it should be dealt with the right way (and usually more effective way).

Emus vs Flies this week and pretty quite on the forum from the old emus boys who used to get on here and bag RFC. Has the muzzle been applied to the likes of ZC, TD (is he still around) etc or have they lost interest as their side is not in top 4 anymore.

Yeah it's a shame percentage isn't used to decide ladder position in this situation...

No loss of interest or muzzle, but find it a bit harder to get info as I am living in London at the minute.

That being said, I know this forum never let the truth stand in the way of a good story! I expect David Earl will really have Reynella up and about for this match up and to see P32 put in a big game to shove it up those who say he's too old.

Shane Fishlock will be chomping at the bit to get stuck into the pooflies so I am expecting a fiery encounter with Scott "I am Carlton" Pollard being the difference on the day.

Emus by 15 pts and 6 sickies pulled on the Monday.

Was making the point that 'The Hound' seemed to be indicating that the Emus were down and out, when they are well in the hunt.

I believe Baden Taylor is polishing his boots ready for tomorrow. Does Petrucci know that Earl has replaced him yet?

Christ, what a day. Looked like Porties had a few out with injury but they still murdered us. O'Hagan dominated the midfield for the Cockledivers - only ever saw him play up forward before, and can say after today's performance that he was wasted there. Keep him in the centre - what a gun. Same problems as always for our mob; we get in front, and inexplicably we get complacent. (That's just one of our problems.) Led for about ten minutes in the first, but after quarter time that was it. Frustrating. Love this club but sometimes I feel like pulling my own eyeballs out of my head.

Anyone got a score for M/Vale v Reynella? Couldn't find a result on sportingpulse.

M/Val Vs Reynella Play Tomorrow (Sunday)
Porties have quite a few out with injuries (I believe) and 1 with Australian Gridiron duties, 3 U18's played A's today. B grade is in the same boat. Had to forfeit U18's Vs Edwardstown to fill B grade with about 5 U18's today. Hopefully start to get some quality back after the byes (Rds 13 & 14)

Haha cheers. I must've not looked closely enough at the date.

Yeah, I thought Porties fielded a depleted side today. I noticed Tedmanson and Manhood missing to begin with, and I'm not sure who else was out, but I heard some official of theirs banging on about it downstairs. For what it's worth, I think that - scoreboard aside, we all know we got flogged - their As played an exemplary game of footy, and would've stood up to a better team than us. I thought their Bs had a lot of young players; this is something we're accustomed to at Aldinga, it's par for the course to have our U-16s playing Bs (haven't got an U-18s side), and the last two weeks we had a couple of U-14s pull on the boots to make up numbers. They did bloody well too. And while I'm on the subject and three sheets to the wind (those bloody cheap Paleys at the club, they get me every time), I'd like to give a shout-out to those kids who put in the effort for us, week in week out. I don't reckon a week goes by that we don't have kids having to play both juniors and seniors, just to ensure we field a full side. I and others at the club are doing our absolute utmost to give these kids incentive to stick around - they're our A graders of the future. It's a lot of effort for little reward, and Willunga across the road must look so much better some days. I'm grateful to and humbled by these kids that stick it out every week and keep coming back, and don't ask for any more than to play with their mates. You do us proud, boys.

Great game at Marion today, 35 goals kicked and scores tied with minute on the clock but hawks prevailled in a close one again. Lee and Spencley outstanding, Rams lost Carter straight after half time to injury which hurt but fought back to nearly snatch it.
