Kelvin Smith must be the only option available then if not DC.

Looks like he will get more of a bowl now then!

P.George would be an option. But Kelvin is a gun and would excel in the role.

Would prefer to see captaincy rest in the hands of Trent Kelly and Callum Ferguson.

A lot of pressure would be being put on Kelvin if he is offered the captaincy - how will it affect his individual performance. Some thrive when given the captaincy, but others (particularly younger ones) suffer personally as a result. An appointment along those lines could also ruffle a few feathers of older players. Kelvin is a great guy, but how would they respond to having a much younger captain?

If Ferg and Kells are unavailable for the captaincy due to other commitments (State and Premier League), I would certainly encourage Peter George being awarded it.

Cheers

WT have announced Kelvin Smith as skipper, Dan Cullen as Vice and Adrian Chad as DVC. Will be a rebuilding year for the Eags I would think but plenty of young talent coming through. Probably 2-3 seasons from being genuine contenders again.

Laubscher back from the UK apparently, would be handy for their top order. Heard rumours of a player from Qld and perhaps a recruit from a neighbouring club but nothing confirmed.

I remember Laubscher being a gun leggie as a kid but bowled them less and less as he got older and became more a batter. Difficult art, I wonder if he'll go back to them.

He's always kept with the leggies but would lose confidence very quickly if he copped a bit of stick. His best is actually very good but needs consistency, like many young spinners. Towards the end of his last season at WT he was starting to find some form again and bowled some good spells in both As and Bs. I believe he had some initial success in UK but not sure how he's been bowling more recently.

If he is playing on similar wickets to what I have seen over there, he should be turning them square....

Jake Haberfield has confirmed that he is leaving South Australia to move to Victoria in an effort to play for SS cricket.

Jake wrote a nice email to the TTGDCC members and spoke personally with some close friends at the club. As a good mate of mine I wish him the best of luck with his newest cricketing endevour.

Nick Winter has joined the club and will help fill the void left by snake. Nick seems like a ripper lad and will fit in well

Hmm decent loss.. will it have much impact on TTG this season? How many wickets did he take last season? 25?

I think Nick will be as good as replacement as you could get really so hopefully the impact is limited by him joining. Jake hasnt been a huge wicket taker in grade cricket but consitantly bowls good spells and you would definately rather him bowling on your side than not

Only the one yep! Not sure about smashing one to the keeper, may have inside edge one ;) You probably were watching it, the helmet was off (we had just got our Baggy blues only a week or two earlier). Jake that day bowled okay but lacked real pace. I reckon he went on to make his one day debut a week or two later.

I reckon he would have only taken 12-15 wickets that season he got called up FS. He had the attribute that SACA were looking for at that time - Tall! Never a huge pole getter from memory but I reckon his average wouldn't be much more then 20 at grade level and the type of bowler you would try and sit on and get runs at the other end which generally means wickets at the other end. Will be missed at Gullies and all the best in Victoria to him. Winter will be a seamless replacement I reckon for you guys.

Good call, had the same conversation with a State selector same season, the commentary basically went "where the f..k did you pull that one from", the answer was a smile, right place, right time, great lad, true clubman, will be missed, especially by the other players on Quiz night, carried them big time.

On the money FS beleive the Buffs have picked up a Strikers recruit.

On another note, have heard that it is 6 clash days between PL and Grade Cricket. If this is the case then questions need to be asked of the Grade cricket presidents delgation who met with SACA.

If this is the case then why have will still got 4 senior grades in the grade comp. Where are those clubs that have multiple players in PL going to get their numbers from on the clash days?
