Because it's occurs you need to call it out when you see it. Modbury at least took the high road and dealt with it for the betterment of their club.

There are always going to be clubs, divisions and leagues better than yours if you are not playing AFL. The AFL is streets ahead of VFL, SAFNL and WAFL who are streets ahead of Div 1 who are streets ahead of Div 7. All the punters want is for their side to be playing in an appropriate division and league against comparable sides. if you do well, you get promoted. If you do badly, you get relegated. No stacking of B's, C's, D's
Where's Bill? Yeah... Hmm... Bill is on the Villa Quatro, on the road to Salina. I will draw you a map.

All div 7 A grade sides want is a chance to play the best 21 players who are not selected in Henley's A's and B's.
Then all the div 7 B grade sides can play the best 21 players who are not selected in Henley's A's, B's and C's.

When we played Henly mate there weren't any stand outs that should be playing higher. If we didn't let them kick 5 in the first qtr we would have won. From what I have seen the top three in Div 7R could easily beat each other on any given day!!! Also take into account it is D grade footy for some clubs so what do you expect!!!

Many posters on here probably wouldnt understand the notion of a 'D-Grade' side, the bottom of the barrel super talented 20 years ago players who now couldnt run 2 laps without pulling a hammy or twanging something these days.

These boys are highly skilled but if you chuck them into a A-Grade (Div 7) game against semi-professional footballers (ie: ingle farm) theyll break down within 2 minutes and their recreational careers would be over

Let these critics jump to conclusions, but truth is our old timers arent physically up to the challenge. Any club that has 4 sides (A's,B's, C's, D's) would know exactly what im on about. Most of our boys would qualify for the Masters league.

But if a C or D grade side is good enough to play against some of the struggling clubs, then let them, atleast those clubs like Smithfield, Angle Vale, Ingle Farm, Houghton and North Pines get a game every saturday, even if they beat those like henley easily.
Its a shame they have to play them, but thats how it goes. The only dissadvantage is that young lads playing against old blokes wanting to just biff the good young players because they run rings around them, will leave clubs to higher div's in the future.

Brian Leys down from Div 1 Reserves to Div 7 Reserves, not Joe the Idiot, but a bloke who has played over 100 AFL games and 4 SANFL premierships. This is where it's a joke Henley !

Hey Marbles from first hand experience today I agree with you, and hell why would you want to stop an extremely experienced player from playing ? We have tried to use this sort of thing to educate our younger, and old players.
Good luck for the finals

Isn't that Div 8 with the exception of Ovingham? Maybe I'm just a tad cynical, but I didn't hear Henley complaining when they were won the premierships in 2007 (Div 7 and Div 7R) and 2009 (Div 7). If Henley and Adelaide Uni played in an C&D grade super league over the past three years you would have been grand finalists ever year. Is that the result you are after?

We didnt win 2007. But the point u make is right, weve had more success than most in these div's. Tea tree gully were stronger last year, they went up, look at them now,

Look at broadview now. casual kick n catch footballers dont want to play semi-professional surpreme athletes.

I say leave the gorillas to play the gorillas, and let the old timers play the old timers

FOR THE PARTICIPATION RATE WILL BOOM

Leigh Matthews - Brisbane v Essendon in 2000 wasn't it? Made the Lions watch Predator before their clash against the rampant Bombers and emphasised the "If it bleeds we can kill it" part.. Brisbane went on to claim the upset win, Essendon won the premiership later that season but a dynasty was sparked with Brisbane going on to contest in the next 4 grand finals, winning 3.

It was 2001 they beat the Bombers after Matthews speech again later that year in the GF .
Bombers only lost 1 game in 2000 to the Bulldogs, R16 from memory
2017, 2019 & 2020 PREMIERS
RICHMOND, RICHMOND, RICHMOND.

Let that be a lesson to you, Port Adelaide Sturt. & Norwood You don't beat Glenelg in Grand Finals and get away with it.

You're right you win, how dare a 45 year old bloke play 'D' grade football. If you check sporting pulse I would reckon he would have played no more than about 8 games mostly in 'D' grade. He played div 1 res cause due to injuries they had just about no-one over 6'1" so he did the right thing to help out for a game. Surely you're not going to demand a 45 year old bloke to put in the effort and time to play higher each week. You're the joke if you don't think this is fair enough. How were you travelling on the field at 45 x runna? No disrespect to Brian with this either!
