Didn't seem to bother your club when you were winning.

Our side this year in D6 is a better side, talent wise, than we had last year in D7 to put it in perspective. Last year we went nigh on undefeated, this year struggling to avoid relegation.

I also think this years D7 is probably one of the better ones I have seen as well. Good to see such strong lower divisions!

So what you are saying morell is that the talent is stronger but they are not playing as a team. If they were then they would be pushing for a finals berth. As I said previously you have beaten 2 teams in the 5. :)
There is a little bit of that but Mitchell Park’s relatively poor year has as much more to do with the quality of the other teams in D6 this year in my opinion.

From last years GF team we have lost Daish, Gleeson, Ortman. Hay, Schneider, Gluza and Williams have been in and out but not really full time.

But we have added - Weekley, Carr, Burton, Colquhoun who have played every A Grade game. Plus youngsters Brittain-Lynch, Bonney, Breynard, Pike, Cope who have been in and out. I would say these guys probably have more talent but perhaps not the experience or strength of the aforementioned. They will develop though and there is a nucleus of talent which if fostered correctly will be the future of the club.

It’s a shame the Daish boys couldn’t stay healthy and that Simper couldn’t get up. That was pretty much our intended starting midfield all gone by Round 3.

I am confident we will stay up, but hope it doesn’t come down to the last regular season game of the year.

If clubs want a bye do what happens in division 1 and all teams have a bye on the same weekend 4 or 5 weeks out from the finals and then all teams are equal. A team receives no benefit for finals if it has the bye in rounds 1 and 10. ML has the bye in the last round this season. If they make it to 5th they have no way to defend their position. Also ML & CLG having the bye before and after the June bye couldn't be good for the team not having any matches for 3 weeks.

Our training numbers crashed during that 3 week period. It certainly wasnt ideal. We all get a bye every year in June as it is anyway. Nothing is broken, nothing needs to be fixed. Stop crying marbles.

Like Zedman our training numbers dropped off dramatically over that period also. Neither of our byes have been or will be ideal but what can u do....as they say in the classics C'est la vie.

IMO use the byes as forced de-load periods for the players, ie. minimal trainings.

The grades are also going to be problematic especially given the desire for lower grade sides to play together.
I'd personally like to see a division that has the best of the c grade sides together including Goodwood and Walkerville from c1 along with Uni, SHOC, Henley, Broadview, Modbury, SMOSH etc; say call it div c1 with the d grade sides of the above forming the nucleus of say c3 with the teams playing the majority of their matches in a corresponding yet lower grade more fitted to that standard.

This would mean that there would be the occasional game in which the c and d grade sides are at different grounds when playing away at those sides with one c grade side only (like div 8 with Ovingham and Port District) but you'd have an extremely even competition.

The other c divisions would follow on from the gradings currently with promotion and relegation of two sides to occur throughout the lower divisions aside from d grade teams moving up into a division that their c grade side is in.

All a grade sides would be in Div 7.
always forgive your enemies...nothing annoys them so much

Westminster all over CLG early in the last to lead by 15 with some terrible umpiring but Harvey picks the team up on his shoulders to get CLG over the line by 11. Outstanding last quarter by Harvey

I agree with what you are saying totally. One umpire was really good, the other didn't have a good afternoon.

Well this is remarkable. Amazing how you can go from chocolates to boiled lollies in just 7 days but BOS proved that it is possible. Nonetheless we have combinations and permutations ahead that would be worthy of an AFL 360 episode devoted entirely to div 6.

Could ML defeat Rosewater this week and cause a potential round 18 showdown between the top two teams for the minor premiership while at the same time taking 5th spot and holding on to it when they have the bye dependant on the fortunes of BOS and United.

It is very likely that WOS and Lockleys will play round 18 for the right to 3rd spot and a double chance as they play United and MP respectively in round 17.

The end of the minor round could well see 5th decided by % if ML lose to Rosewater and BOS lose to both CLG and United and United lose to WOS in round 17. But that has a number of if's in it so we'll wait and see.

My punt is the top 4 will be Rosewater, CLG, WOS, Lockleys as it stands now. MP and Uni remain 8th and 9th respectively.

I can't bear to think too much about 5th but we will know so much more in about 163 hours. What a year.
