Legal fees are apparently the reason.

As I said to a mate of mine, all of this will finish up making the lawyers richer and the Essendon officials hate each other for what they've been put thru.

You blokes rode out all that drama a few years ago because you are a strong and viable organisation that deserves respect. Essendon is the same except our problems are different. We will be keeping the faith in this camp

I feel very sorry for the supporters in all this. I would hate to think how i'd feel if my team lost all their points just before finals when you were almost a certaintly for top 4. I'm not being sarcastic either before anyone rips my head off.
So you've seen everything have you?
Yep

No
Well you haven't seen everything then have you.

If they are found guilty and lose their points, the last thing they will deserve is sympathy.

AFL released a statement saying that investigation wont be concluded until finals at earliest.
Any penalties will be handed down after that.
The cynic in me is not surprised considering Essendon still has a couple of blockbuster games remaining and the AFL will try to maximise attendence.

Yep i said that months ago, it will be finished after R23, they will lose their points and not a single crowd figure will be effected, players will get 6 months so no real penalty there, they will get a big fine which they can afford so only real penalty is loss of points but given they cant win it this year anyway doesnt really matter either.
A big wack on the knuckles with a feather duster.
If Essendon cop this Hird will keep his job and i get the feeling so will Andy D. If Essendon fight it i think Hird and Andy D will be finished

Was mentioned that if guilty and we bomb out of finals(very likely) that the penalty wouldnt be deemed harsh enough and that we could lose points next year

6 month player ban means they cant attend or associate with the club or other players, if the AFL stick to the Trigg/Bailey method of punishment.
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far, go together.

That couldn't be the punishment though, what of those who share a house...????

The whole thing is doing my head in, I can't imagine what it would be like to be an Essendon Fan

Wouldn't the ban on association be on players not handed suspensions by ASADA? Zaharakis could be having a lonely pre season next year

With ASADA recently being given more power by the ACC it's no surprise the investigation will take longer than expected.

Well yeah if the investigation isnt complete before you go out in straight sets then expect points loss next year. This would the last thing both the AFL and Essendon want.
Perhaps instead of a points loss they could just half the points for any win. ie if Essendon win next year they get 2 points, this will keep supporters intersted and the players will still give their all rather than the Storm situation and risk the integrity of the comp. Not sure if this bothers the AFL and it's clubs though (see No AFL in SANFL debate  )
This gives them the chance to earn 44 points which if they are lucky will have them sneak in the 8 but would have to be undefeated. It's an opportunity i as a Hawthorn supporter is happy to give them ;)

Like most members id rather the AFL whack us now.
They already know what punishment they will give us.
Whack us now, we can send all the players off for surgery and extended preseason, play a heap of kids. Also the fans can boycott the rest of the season and hurt the AFL coffers.
Id even go a step further and call the AFL's bluff, tell us our penalty now or we forfeit the rest of the season
