SANFL COMPETITION – MEDIA STATEMENT
The SANFL can confirm that the West Adelaide and Norwood Football Clubs will be allowed to replace existing home grown Adelaide Football Club (“AFC”) listed players who remain on the AFC’s list for the 2014 season.

In West Adelaide’s case, this means that Ben Rutten, Jason Porplyzia and Rory Laird can be replaced, with Norwood able to replace Mitch Grigg and Luke Brown.

"When the SA Football Commission handed down the recruiting bans to West Adelaide and Norwood, the removal of AFC listed players from these clubs was not contemplated," said SANFL General Manager Football Chris Davies.

“Therefore, an exception has been made in this circumstance where the current bans would see both clubs further penalised. It should be stressed that all other penalties for both clubs remain in place."

I have to agree with you Fester its disappointing that NFC Board changed their vote. at worst they should have obstained from voting so that they could explain to the members any new developments that may require a sgm to vote on. If the sanfl was not taking no for an answer,I am sure there was more wealing& dealing to be done

I wonder if the other clubs knew this during voting time?
Would it have changed their decision that the premiers and runners up get a leg up?
The word integrity hss now been compromised.

Glenelg were too dumb to get anything out of it, they just dropped them and bent over at the first opportunity.

Would never have happened if the Emperor was still around.

For the first time I actually feel sorry for some Norwood supporters. Their board is a disgrace and its to late to do anything about it now. The damage is done.

Ben Rutten will be a massive loss for Westies, they aught to be able to replace him......

Seriously, absolute rubbish. No different to blokes getting drafted, leaving the club or any other of the reasons blokes have for moving on. Perhaps if it was 8 blokes actually playing each week it might be fair, but you voted to let them in, you cop the full bore of that decision.

It's true, I was beating my chest. I was walking proud believing my President was a proactive leader, not a reactive coward!
I was at AAMI yesterday with my missus, a Suns supporter, and when a swampie noticed my Norwood jacket the jibes started.
"Are you here to bend for Trigg?" "Sellout Judas" "Backstabbing bastard" "Look a lovely Crow boy".
We that were against have to wear this, the cowards sit in the stands.
It also hurts the abuse we are copping as a club, but I fully expect that.

The only comeback I had yesterday was to tell the Swampies you're already dead you just don't know it. Lame by my standards.

So I don't really feel like a winner.

But at least it made me smile when one of them said "Kochie won't let that happen"!

(Mr Rudd came across as pretty cool too)!

So Norwood went against it's own stance to claw back the chance to recruit through the backdoor, with a little help from the gutless SANFL......... that sounds about right..... like I said ages ago, this was always going to go down once the Cancers let Harper of the leash to white ant for what Collingwood has
Now the Cancers are in we will have to live with it, though I have zero interest in what them and their brain dead followers have to offer......their Cancer after all

I wish it was a secret vote instead of going around the table. Might of been a different outcome.
It was 6 votes from the 1st 6 clubs. By the time Central and South had a vote the AFC had already gained entry so it didn't matter what they voted.
Did they vote against so they look like the good guys? Would they have voted differently if they were the 1st clubs to vote? we'll never know.
To those who have stated that they wont renew their memberships and are done with the SANFL, good riddance, f..k off, don't come back.

Centrals were the only ones to publicly declare their hand a stick with it when it came to the crunch...

South formed their position a few days before the vote.

"Maybe" because their vote was a dead vote. Who knows?

Our president was on the record in March stating at a presidents function that we were opposed to the move. Despite the media stating otherwise we never once stated publicly that this had changed.

How dare we not change our minds when push came to shove, stupid I know.

If you want to think we did it for PR purposes like has been written on the Norwood forum, go ahead, but you know what would have made our vote more definitive, a third no!
