Giving the opportunity to field an extra player so one less player misses out on a final is a great gesture. I've seen it save coaches the hardest job over the years.

agree with LM..its a great idea..

Why not play 15? They found a line in the sand and drew it.

That's got nothing to do with it, I don't see why you would change the rules of the game for finals. If you want to give more guys a game that's fine, just do it all year.

Are you that narrow minded that you can't see why "THE CLUBS" wanted to get extra players participating in the finals. The clubs voted for it, the rules remain the same, an extra player is allowed to play.

I can see why they did it, personally I just think it's wrong as it is changing the rules. You still haven't said what is wrong with playing 4 during the year. Same deal, gets an extra 2 guys a game a week. Why wouldn't the clubs want extra players every week.

because in the minor round you have other teams (B,C,D etc) that can absorb extra players..unless you are extremely successful you dont always have other teams in finals and are unlikely to see multiple teams in grand finals..just accept you stuffed up and didnt read the fine print..every club knew about it and you guys obviously voted on it so speak to your delegate..

I'm with you, should have 4 man interchange each week.. having said that, some coaches may feel it may be too many players to rotate, and also could well test a clubs depth if you get hit hard by injuries considering it is effectively two extra players playing each week, and then would also affect the C grade.

Or maybe we should just copy the AFL and have 3 man + sub

I have accepted it. I've also said already that's not why I don't like the rule. I'm sure the bigger clubs would love an extra 2 players each week with 40 to pick from in their C grade. I'm sure you guys would have loved the extra 2 spots before your C grade came in.

A fourth bench player is likely to spend a lot of time on the bench, especially during minor rounds. Right or wrong, a lot of blokes hate the thought of spending their afternoon on the pine when they could be cruising through most of a B-Grade game.

Yes in finals it's important, but during the minor round 3 is enough. A sub maybe???

All clubs scratch for players to fill their bottom side @ stages through the year so having that extra player playing higher adds to the pressure.

In a sport where the participation rate @ senior level is @ best steady it seems dumb to make a 4 man bench on a week by week basis. In the novelty of finals as per Zeds comment then definately there is a place.
Can you bring a man to his feet when defeat is on repeat?
