You have to wonder if any of these fines ever really get paid.

Essendon played hard ball with the AFL and negotiated very well to get such light penalties.

Exactly right. The afl went off half cocked and got found out. It cost a million bucks to expose them for what they are, wallies swanning around in their comfort zone

I reckon the AFL have brought the game into disrepute with these soft penalties. Who fines those wankers?

The only one I agree with is Mark Thompson being fined. I dont think his part in it warrants a suspension (if everything he said on Footy Classified was true)

Short memory....cant recall what Carlton went through with similar draft penalties?

Essington and screwed.

Dont think we are as bad off as Carlton were.
We now have free agency and also the ability to trade out players for picks.
We have only lost 3 picks, im confident we can cover them.
The bonus we have that Carlton didnt is the 2 new franchises, they need some older bigger bodies so we should be able to negotiate some half decent picks, we are not going to get top 10 picks but could pick up some handy picks in the number 20-30 pick region.
Still have a bit of room on the cap aswell so id imagine we would have a fair crack at free agency

Don't reckon anyone will want to trade with essendon due to the Asada cloud hanging over players. Can't see them being involved at all

let me re-phrase that....

I am one-eyed. I AM a wanker supporter. but I am not a wanker OF a supporter. ;)

And any trade Essendon get involved in firmly places the ball in the other clubs court. If Essendon want something you have got, you can make them pay for it.

Clubs may be prepared to release a 2nd rounder for quality, taking into account that they may be banned for a year.

I dont think Ryder will be traded, but someone like him will be hot property.

Ive seen speculation that Hurley wants out. I reckon Carlton would be quite interested.

Goddard would be p***ed off, although he would console himself with his bank balance.

What player in their right mind would choose to go to essendon as a trade at the moment. Also how would a parent feel if their son was drafted there. Already heard of one parent from my neck of the woods unhappy on mmm last week, surely there would be more.

To all the Essendon supporters, why would you want Hirdy back after his suspension??

Remember, this is the bloke who has cost your club 2 years worth of first & second round draft picks and 2 million worth of fines which will set your back club years!! IMO I would be looking to another coach to take the reigns. Lock in Bomber Thompson now for the next few years to help get out of this mess and tell Hirdy to 'Foxtrot Oscar'.
