If Norwood did this for the struggling SANFL clubs. Why did you only sell out for $50K like the crows were originally offering. Cos $50K will solve nothing to a struggling club with the revenue they will lose.

Why didnt you sell out for $200K for each club if you are really so concerned for the health of the league.

Mmmmm I wonder.... FOS NFC board.

LOL I dunno, Im not on the board .. Wouldn't matter if I did because your mind is made. :D

Bollocks. We negotiated an extra $150K per year for each club due to our concerns for SANFL clubs finances going forward.

Id understand that.

Looks like Im not the only one who has made up his mind. Hear no evil see no evil....... :-)

I guess the NFC decision makers consider they will lose between %2-%12 of membership, and think they can replace that revenue (inc matchday spend etc) with revenue coming via the AFC.

As feedback wasn't provided by around 2,500 members, there is the potential that they will be in for a nasty surprise.

Yep, that is exactly what the Eagles based their rationale on.

I raised the loss of members with our President and he was confident they can cover the loss in revenue by the extra dough from the Crows (I think it was still at $40k at that point).
Happy days.

So your saying they sold out for no gain then? Why do it?

It was the fear of losing sponsors and media exposure if the Crows went to the amateurs.

IMO this was the main reason we got a 6-2 Yes vote.

Oh i thought it was cos the money was going to save 3 or 4 clubs from going under but if the Nett result is neutral how will that save them?

From John Olsen - SANFL:

“When the decision was taken to admit a support team from the Adelaide Football Club into the SANFL competition from 2014, the SANFL League Directors resolved to make the same invitation to the Port Adelaide Football Club.

“Following discussions, Port Adelaide then came back with some minor alterations to the model and, at a meeting held this morning, the League Directors have agreed to that proposal.

“We now anticipate that the Board of the Port Adelaide Football Club will consider the matter at its meeting tomorrow night.”

So here is everyone's concern. This time next year, because the season has been shifted forward, we are playing SANFL Elimination & Qualifying Finals. The Crows make it and have followed 2013 Premiership Coach Ross Lyon's model he used for finals preparation last year. He has the Crows a guaranteed top 4 spot heading in to the final round and decides to make 10 changes to the team, as Lyon has this week with Freo, including resting 7 players.

The Crows "Support" team now contains just 4 AFL listed players for their Qualifying Final with West. Additional top up players who haven't played with the Crows all year are called upon to make up the numbers.

Big Phil, on his Thursday night 5RPH radio show, asks Crows "Support" team coach about the "playing to the line" condition put in to the proposal, to which the coach replies it was misheard, we said we would be "playing to the Lyon".

Given that no one by then will care about the SANFL this is a non-issue.

Happy times.

Yeah certainly disillusioned and jaded by all this. Will go and watch South on Sunday, but beyond that wont be going out of my way to watch the finals.

Same goes for my interest in the AFL. Couldn't care less about the upcoming finals. Feels odd..

Yep, footy's been overshadowed by politics big time.
