At least more turned up for that game! So much for the "supposed" support and diehard attitude of the true PAFC supporters - where are they?

Lots of front runners like the rest of our teams!

The last quarter of the league game was hard to watch. Not for what was happening on the field, but spent most of it with one eye on the time clock holding back tears knowing that everything was coming to an end. Standing out on the oval after the game with the players was something to remember, singing the club song as every second person, be it a supporter or player, was in tears. Wasn't sure how I'd react today, and after the game it all got to me, and was one of many crying unashamedly as we followed the players from the centre circle to the players race. It shows how much the team we all support, no matter who it is, means so much to us.
Well said. I never thought that I'd barrack for a Port Adelaide side any place, any time, but even I found myself willing them to get over the line in the last quarter today.

People can talk about 1990, 1996 and a whole lot of other years all they like— but the fact is that Norwood will be poorer playing in any comp where they have no proud Port Adelaide side with its own list of players, striving to its utmost to win the flag, to play against. And I think the other 7 clubs could all say the same thing.

It was all about Jimmy after the game. Sad state of affairs though. Adults crying and their kids with no idea why.

I guess as much as all the other clubs have suffered against the Crows, the Magpies suffering against the Power is tenfold in comparison. It is a pity the Port Magpies aren't in a strong enough position to go it alone and represent their area in the SANFL like the other 8 clubs do. Given they still draw a decent crowd, it will be a big loss to the SANFL if they are purely just an AFL Reserves team.

I can see otr's point, but there are still individuals within the Magpies that will be suffering and you do feel for them.

Agree with SimonH here. The loss of the Magpies further weakens the comp.

PS The producers of Urge Overkill's 'Saturation' want to know WTF they've got to do with it.

Always hard to know who— or what— you're arguing with online, so there's a chance that otr is just a bot programmed to post in accordance with its signature, "throwing shit at the PAFC at every opportunity". Makes sense in that bots are incapable of knowing when it's a totally inappropriate time to put the boot in.

Sad day for Maggies supporters. Maybe One Club meant just that.
Apparently it's called progress and not living in the past.

As a Norwood man I will miss Alberton immensely. Lots of excellent banter. Sadly the crowds have been more and more red and Blue in recent years. I know a lot of swampies so feel sorry for those guys.

Do you want to borrow my tissues?

After years of copping the arrogant nature and the sh*t from PAFC supporters you suddenly want me to change my mind and feel sorry for you? Where were you when my club was about to close it's doors? It is your own club killing the almost lifeless corpse of the Magpie, not me nor my club or other SANFL clubs no matter what you and others think.

Don't worry Bonney and co. as long as the Power Reserves play in B&W in the SANFL I will still be able to sink the boots into the PAFC!

No, I don't want you to feel sorry for us, not at all. I was expecting that you'd show enough humility to pick and choose where and when you take to kicking us while we're down, clearly you dont and I really shouldn't be surprised. It is a game review thread, not another Port/reserves/AFL/whatever debate. Seems as though you aren't clever enough to work it out.

Back to the game, Ferguson stood tall for West in the last half when Port went on the attack while Luke Slattery did the same at the other end for Port.

I can see why West were going to cut Collins' pay. Despite the game plan winning enough games to sit them in second spot on the ladder, playing 16 blokes behind the ball in the first quarter while kicking with a 5 goal breeze was astounding. It's a shit style of play that frustrates even Westies fans and yes, the sooner he and his game style leave the SANFL the better.

Drawn a long bow there UK Fan.
Port signed the death warrant of the Maggies the day they decided they had outgrown the SANFL and wanted to play with the big boys.
No one forced Port into the AFL, the blood is clearly on their own hands

Really not looking forward to next week which will most likely be my last ever SANFL match. I am very close to giving up on my AFL side as well. The most surprising part of yesterday was hearing Power fans say they were walking away from the Power as well for wanting the Magpies as their reserves. There was a lot of anger and a lot was aimed at the PAFC board as well as the SANFL for even voting the reserves in. The most devastating thing was seeing the younger generation who have never even been to the Port GF who can not even look back on those memories and could not care what happened in 90 or 96 because they were not there. The Magpie of today were their club regardless of the history they just loved the club and the SANFL and now it is gone for the AFL clubs to benefit.
