The last quarter of the league game was hard to watch. Not for what was happening on the field, but spent most of it with one eye on the time clock holding back tears knowing that everything was coming to an end. Standing out on the oval after the game with the players was something to remember, singing the club song as every second person, be it a supporter or player, was in tears. Wasn't sure how I'd react today, and after the game it all got to me, and was one of many crying unashamedly as we followed the players from the centre circle to the players race. It shows how much the team we all support, no matter who it is, means so much to us.
Well said. I never thought that I'd barrack for a Port Adelaide side any place, any time, but even I found myself willing them to get over the line in the last quarter today.
People can talk about 1990, 1996 and a whole lot of other years all they like— but the fact is that Norwood will be poorer playing in any comp where they have no proud Port Adelaide side with its own list of players, striving to its utmost to win the flag, to play against. And I think the other 7 clubs could all say the same thing.
