For mine the SANFL Grand Final should be a celebration of South Australian Football.

Fans of the competing teams just want the game, all the rest is not needed.
I get that.

However as the SANFL's pinnacle event it needs a large crowd and to get that it needs to draw in neutral supporters who come for the event, if not their own team.


One thing I would love the SANFL to do is recognise all the suburban and country league premiers around the state for the year .. ie celebrating the year in South Australian football.

Let them be part of the pre-game / half time parade around the ground.

Would create a wonderful tradition that if you win the flag you get to go to West Lakes (or wherever next years game is) and be recognised in front of a big crowd.

There are 26 leagues around the state plus maybe 6-7 SAAFL divisions you could recognise.

Not only would the players / coaches turn up but so would families & general members to celebrate their players & club being recognised on the big stage.

If 32 clubs brought an average of say 150 people each to the game that is 4,800 a wonderful crowd boost.

This works best on October long weekend as there is no other local sport, teams from far country have extra travel time. ALso it would be at least 2 weeks after the GF's are played allowing time to organise.

Cost would be minimal with maybe some travel assistance for the far flung clubs.

And the league already has metro and country DO's in place on the ground to assist the organising.

I think the half time entertainment will be excellent this year. As mentioned previously no-one attends the grand final purely to see the half time musical interlude and the world agreed that Meatloaf last year was tough to swallow. (no pun intended)

It will be great that some of the Auskick kids will be able to weave their magic on SANFL GF day and will be a moment that they will never ever forget.

Also the top two leagues/zones in AFL 9s "The game for everyone" will be playing an exhibition game. This will be designed to showcase the fast and fun alternative that can be played by all the family. Ideally this will help promote the AFL 9s Spring season starting on October 14th in 7 different leagues/zones at locations all around Adelaide. afl9s.com.au

It doesn't matter before and at half-time. BUT after winning our first flag in 15 years I would of loved our club song during the victory lap, not a Stones cover band!!

My point too. Was a joke, but the rest of it was fine. Should have at least played the song a couple of times then the cover band.
