It doesn't matter what side of politics you are on, politicians will never answer a question where they don't have to. Only a skilful journalist will have the nous to flesh out anything factual from these people. Politicians know this and they play on it all the time. I'm convinced that filibustering is an art form that is taught in universities.

I know that the family was living in North Adelaide just before they moved interstate in 1972. Her brother,Peter, was my best friend at school at the time. Peter was a North supporter as well...good man.
My cousin was in Therese Rein's class at Saints girls.

Just talking to people, I think the election will be closer than the polls suggest. I'm amazed how many young people (<25yrs nieces, nephews and their friends)will vote for ALP on the basis of marriage equality alone, yet it seems to be a non-issue with older people.

You are dead right apart from the closeness of the election. It will be a flogging but younger generations have no interest in economic management, foreign policy and all the important stuff that governments have to do, and thats fair enough. Gay marriage is not important to older people who grew up in a different era. I have some friends who are pretty much politically neutral and when I asked them how they were going to vote they said "Rudd, because he gave us cheques for $900" so right there is the ignorance that is among us. Anyway it won't matter and this time next week we will have some intelligent adults occupying the treasury benches and they will get some work done to try and rescue the country from the chaos that we've had for the last six years.

I stand corrected, I was sure I remember reading something during Rudd's first PMship with her saying she grew up in Elizabeth so understands what Holdens means to the area or something (maybe it was just her growing up in Adelaide in general) but having done a bit of research can't find anything about that, my mistake.
