On another note can anyone confirm the SFL being called to an emergency meeting at Marion?[/quote]

Yes. SFL totally unprepared for what was being discussed and requested another 12 months to review the situation. Easy situation to make a call on.
Same old, same old by SFL committee.

What about today's result guys. I was expecting Noarlunga to get up but credit to Morphett Vale for setting it up in the first half and hanging on. Roos v Emus next Saturday and Winies v Vikings next Sunday. Can't see the Roos getting beat and would have tipped Vikings in a Prelim a few weeks back but the soap opera their season has become will surely give the Winies the edge. Another week 2 or 3 finals exit for the Shoes must be very frustrating for Shoe Boy and the rest of the Shoey faithful. And all the best to Hearn for a speedy recovery.

Can anyone shed any light on this so called emergency meeting at Marion. I can only assume it relates to the future of the Marion Football Club, or am I missing something.

. Marion met with SFL committee regarding the comps junior age groups, and future in the SFL. SFL were unprepared, couldn't make a decision. Non result.

Honestly 1919, if you continue to think there was any malice in either Brighton v Towns game this season then you must think chess is a rough sport. I am aware of Renzi coming out of last weeks game with a fractured jaw, an injury that he himself didn't realise he had at the time and didn't stop him playing out the game. But we have made some internal enquiries and our runner and a couple of players assured us that Renzi initiated contact with a Brighton player by trying to knock him over to prevent him from running up field as a loose man. Our player saw him coming late so lined himself up to knock over Renzi and they both bounced off each other. One version said that was the only contact but another version suggested that upon getting to their feet they both bumped into each other again in the typical macho bullshit way that footballers do. Whether one or two bumps they were shoulder to shoulder but it appears that the shorter player in Renzi may have taken some accidental high contact that has caused injury. Bottom line - if he doesn't try and illegally knock over our player off the ball in the first place then he probably doesn't get injured. No Townies player, official or supporter remonstrated or hurled abuse and there certainly wasn't anything said straight after the game when officials from both clubs were mingling and chatting about the game. I believe Renzi may have come off the ground for a bit straight after the incident so if he alleged he was sniped then we surely would heard some diatribe coming from the bench during the rest of the game or straight after. Nothing of that nature occurred. So stop trying to make a mountain out of a molehill. And yes I do wish Renzi a speedy recovery.

Emus victory is pretty impressive today and full credit to BC - wonder how the emus supporters who wanted him sacked when he first took the role feel tonight. Definitely a club that are never down for long - probably we will be saying same about the bombers next year.

Will be interesting to see how the prelims shape up - Valley don't look anywhere near as strong now as they did same time last year and face losing their captain. Learnt today that don't ever write off the emus. Would be interesting to see BC up against his old club in a GF.

As AB alludes these comments are not reflective of the Cove Football Club.
As I've mentioned before well done to all involved at MP to get their juniors/mini's going and for the seniors to be playing in a prelim next week.

Meeting probably more about future in SFL than anything else? Can anyone confirm rumour Marion about to close doors as money has run out or they are merging with MVP?

Every clubs got those sideline supporters who think they know best MF. Truth is, the people that mattered, the players and those closest to the team were extremely happy with BC even last year. What he has done this year with a bunch of up and coming kids is nothing short of exceptional. Whilst every club wants to win every game they play, the last 2 years has been about the bigger picture. IMHO, the Emus will be very hard to beat in the next few years. And if my ears are correct, I believe BC has already been given the job of finishing what he started. A great coach and a top bloke.

The U/16 comp this week moves into debacle mode with Brighton playing an internal trial to prepare for next weeks guaranteed Grand Final spot.

Problem is it is scheduled for Saturday so obviously only 22 players will be available.

First I've heard of that, and highly unlikely.
Yeh it was about the future direction of the SFL and the junior set up of the comp.

Less of a debacle than junior comps without the full compliment of SFL clubs or the days when other clubs were allowed 2 teams in the one junior comp and the 2nd team was a whipping boy.

The GF will still be Brighton v Happy Valley or Flagstaff Hill so no debacle whatsoever.

I think the SFL has got more things to worry about this week than who plays who in the junior Preliminary Finals.

Good diversion tactic DTH but can you confirm that Sacred Heart will allow their players to play in a prelim final rather than the school footy. Dont get me wrong I think its great these kids have done so well against the best 16s in the league but if they dont play on Saturday Reynella should be putting in a complaint.

I also heard a maroon coat talking at Aldinga yesterday about an emergency meeting at Marion being held - must have been pretty important agenda if it was taking SFL officials away from the semi finals. Think there could be more going on here than is being revealed or fellow posters are aware of. The word "merge" was also mentioned.

Wouldn't want to be the HV Pres this morning.

Now has to deal with a racial abuse allegation during Saturday nights C Grade GF.

After the Adam Goodes incident this year, how does it still go on? The victim of the abuse also had his 4yo with him.
