mind you Peter Ali left basketball as a basket case with no money and broke, maybe the dogs will end up the same way, but he will walk with money lining his clothes all the way to the gold coast sipping on lattes and cocktails........and not giving a f..k about the SA GREYHOUNDS!!

Bentley didn't encourage to drop country tracks off.
Bentley may have encouraged increased prizemoney, and to do this the Greyhounds Racing SA needed to reduce expenses.
They could have cut some salaries at the top for the sake of whyalla's club.
Just knocked a few bucks off a few Greyhound Racing SA delegates.
Would have been the same.
Instead, it's the decline of greyhound racing in SA as we know it.
Good on you Peter Ali, another SA sporting Association left F'd in the A by you!

Peter Ali could have done a vast amount of things to keep that club open.
Cutting it off was a wrong choice, and a discriminative one.
I don't give a crap what else he has done, people put their lives into that club, all he had to do was keep giving it a small halping hand, and he didn't.
What a great ambassador for racing.

SS

it seems that PETER ALI has done more bad then good for the club, despite what CRAIG COOK reports in the advertiser.

MAL brought up the fact that there was a KULPARA meeting around easter weekend and that the club put up all the prizemoney!!!!

KULPARA is run on volunteers and is a sensational day out, the people are friendly, staff are helpful.

ANGLE PARK - run on over-paid staff, very few actually know what they are doing, and even more arent exactly happy to be there!!!!!!
not an inviting place

Are you disagreeing or agreeing with me then?
Kulpara is similar to Whyalla although its location does help get the metro guys out there to make the day work well.
Whyalla relied on its volunteers, who continued happily.
The club bred some brilliant dogs.
Especially considering its ratio of good racing dogs to trainers.
Barmera is in trouble too, Port Augusta looks likely to fall, Pirie might cling on the skin of its teeth.
Greyhound Racing Sa willl have no problems closing these down, Kulpara might be lucky to survive too.
Country clubs are considered an unwanted expense, they've taken the Bentley report and used it to support their actions when the Bentley report never encouraged such action at all.
I'm a bit annoyed, can you tell???
Angle Park is where they want it all, and like Tigers said, its pretty average because people aren't willing.
the difference between appreciation of what you have and recieving exactly what you don;t deserve.

i agree with you 200%!!!!

greyhound racing sa dont want any country clubs!!!!!

maybe they want to be like WA who have only 3 clubs

cannington
mandurah - which really is only 45-60mins south of perth
northam which is about 1.5hrs north

I think there is talk that Kulpara will be closed down which will be a shame.

Country clubs should be kept open and running, as they are good for the community.

I hope that strath stays open, as it is always a good day up at strath and it is only 45 mins from my house.

In reading some of your gossip i must say i have noticed you say apperance money should be payed i believe it was the trainers on your so called sub commities that voted to abolish it to upset the larger kennels it only proves that these people were only puppets so now they want apperance money and another great comment have kulpara rules that person is a puppet. Also adelaide have enough trouble fielding fields now imagine no wheeler dogs in S.A. you wont need PETER ALI &CO.STUFFING UP S.A. you may as well stop trainers buying interstate rejects too,or next pick on S.PRINGLE sending her rejects to S.A. Dont believe everything you read 14% but they took 13% so 1% increase and 41% tab revenue goes to administration highest in australia.

well that person at KULPARA maybe a puppet, but there are a lot of people in the industry that are very happy with the rule that they have in place.

yes lets imagine SA GREYHOUNDS without dogs running around under the ownership of WHEELER, yes the fields will drop considerably over the short term, but that just may help the local breeding scene, rather then get the **** UP PIGS that WHEELER owns that can only run 400m and then they collapse and ruin the field by dropping into the faces of the other runners!!!!!!

I know a number of big punters that refuse to bet on races in which there are WHEELER owned dogs, because they are so unreliable - but 90% of the time they are good for betfair!!!

the dogs that S. PRINGLE sends here, maybe rejects, but at least they get out of grade 5 company and generally go on into the 1/2/3 grades, as opposed to the wheeler cats that just run around in the maidens/graduations/juveniles/grade 5 races.

WHEELER was asked to sponsor a race at ANGLE PARK he told the club in no uncertain terms 'no' and thats putting it politely.

the prizemoney WHEELER wins goes interstate, if we dont have wheeler owned dogs running, it will encourage people into the breeding scene, and the prizemoney won by that dog will circulate in SA and not go into an account across the border.

Jonnie you raised some good points
Cant agree with Pringle rejects being ordinary
MISS SPICY won a cup interstate for the Murrays.
I never mind the dogs JOVANOVIC/MURRAY get over
they improve the standard of racing but I do disapprove
of the ordinary Wheeler dogs that come over.

2 of the biggest syndicate trainers in SA are Jovanovic and Haagmans
They encourage local syndication which in turns attracts a crowd on course
The Wheeler dogs are orphans , no SA owners, so no on course stimulation.

hi there im new to the site. I dont think it would be a terrible thing to cut back on tracks because the fact is there arnt enough dogs to field meetings then the money could go to boost prizemoney at gawler/strath/kulpara/pirie i think 5 tracks is plenty. I train for wheeler and he is a great owner to have he never questions anything he just lets you go about your business as if they are ur own dogs i have trained for several syndicates over the years and they are hard work and also hard to find and they all want a ready made dog for $2000

hi mighty tiger i never said kulpara rule was no good cause only 1 dog can win anyway so who wants more than two and i believe you still pay noms over there about $10.00 per starter in the non tabs seems to me people are paying for there own prizemoney over there by the way you do seem to know alot about wheelers dogs and alot about and you talk alot about breeding have you done much if so you would know you have as much chance of winning xlotto as breeding a group winner and i do agree with vic girl syndicates are hard work and what nut would buy a dog to race in s.a. anyway and syndicate 10 shares of f all is f all along time to get even

well there arent too many people left in the breeding aspect of the industry.

I was involved, but unfortunately the pup wasnt broken in properly and is now a pup.

there doesnt seem to be any incentive for people in SA to breed, the SA BED scheme is just a token gesture.

there are a few nuts that buy dogs to race here........personally WA is the place to be racing!!!

I have no doubt that syndicates are hard work and the way that Wheeler deals with his trainers probably makes the trainers job so much easier, in the fact they only have to deal with one person and not 10 people in a syndicate.

now it seems that G. bate is still one of the very best trainers in the country, I am assuming he still gets the best dogs wheeler owns, next in line in VIC would probably be Hunt and/or Gibbons then Collins and anybody else that trains for him.

the worst dogs end up in SA...........and thats not just from Wheeler but from everywhere. and since we get the worst dogs, we get terrible races, and we get dogs with better brakes then most cars.

I think that maybe angle park and Gawler should bring in a rule that no trainer can have more then 2 runners per race, with the exceptions of heat/finals series.......
