Saw Carthy first hand on Sunday and that lad is going to be a very, very, good player as is Barratt.

I'm with you Shoe Boy, if this is the outcome this is ridiculous.

One of our players not too long ago copped a 6 game suspension from a piss weak club report for cracking a tooth. This guy has broken a jaw and more in the early stages of a game.

Should be a minimum 16 weeks and enjoy the rest of your life on the sidelines.

Rumour has it that Rivers from Brighton got 6 weeks (for colliding with someone - was there more to it)... How he got more than Macca is astounding!

Rivers got 6 for high contact in a bump that did result in a broken jaw to the Townies player but Brighton and Rivers maintain that contact to the head was accidental partly due to Rivers being 4 or 5 inches taller. Guilty or not, how on earth can he get 1 more game than a deliberate punch to the face off the ball. Apparently the Investigations Committee request on this incident was lodged 8 days after the event and only after the McKenzie incident occurred the following Saturday. Rivers has no priors so he and Brighton are very very stiff, I reckon they should look at all possible avenues for review/appeal of penalty.. Maybe the SFL should look at the panel and be asking questions as to the disparity of penalty, especially given the Townies player cam back and played later in the game.. Then again when good old Chuckles Constable (Hanging Judge) is on the panel there is no Rhyme or reason to his decisions.

Maybe it is also time for a change at commissoner level, Chuckles dominates while the others have a snooze..

Consistency is clubs ask for.

If penalties are being given out like that for bumps then we might as well give up. I know the AFL has got all silly about this type of thing but come on, lets not adopt their stupidity.

Unfortunate the lad has a broken jaw, but we do play a collision sport and that is part of the risk of playing such a game.

Whats next, a player gets tackled awkwardly and breaks an arm, should we suspend the tackler for not showing due care to the player as he fell? Bizarrely I once saw one of our players sent off a couple of years ago for "tackling too hard", so maybe this is where we are heading.

I didn't see either incident so cannot really compare, but unless the guy was bumped head on as he was bending down for the ball then this does seem excessive.

I did not see the strike, as it appears no one else seemed to. Is it possible that it simply wasn't a king hit at all? Edwardstown had their chance to present all the witnesses and evidence, yet he got 5 games, so it seems to me either the case was very weak or that the incident was very different to what was represented here. He has had his day at the tribunal and copped the outcome, the injured party will play again before McKenzie does, so seems like a reasonable outcome. If it was truly a cowardly king hit, then there is no way he would have got 5. Unless someone can present a different side, it appears there was nowhere near the incident some purported to see and were horrified by. A d if they did truly see it, where were they when he hearing was held?
