Sad to see Smith go, has been my favourite non Aussie player since he tore the Poms a new one in 2003. In full flight there aren't many classier players. Was a strange call when he was made captain, as he was dropped from the Test team just prior to the World Cup, then made captain just after it. A big hole to fill in the South African line up

I hope he makes a century in his final innings. it wont save them the game. I have enjoyed watching him play, was a very young skipper, so perhaps that has taken its toll. would have been nice if Kallis stuck around for this series and they went out together.

Far better chance to add profile to their First Class competition or even coach the national team.

Correct & he is captaining Surrey or Susex for the next 2-3 years anyway so he will be playing. Would be great for Irish Cricket also.
