Luke Shaw looks like United's first signing, £30m from Soton.
Will earn £100k per week which will make him the highest paid teenager in English football history

Very good talent but one cant help but feel if he wasnt English he would be getting paid half that. Once any English player shows talent their price is inflated.
Will be the perfect replacement for Evra though

As I said the issue is that he is English hence the inflated price.
Since the limit on foreigners has come in, British players pay packets have skyrocketed.
Shaw is a fantastic player and will shine at the WC IMO but yes his price is inflated.
He was a Chavs supporter as a kid and did want to go there and they were very keen on him, with CL next year they had a lot more to offer him so we had to outbid them.
Unfortunately for us with no CL we are stuck with paying over the odds prices for players

I'm not sure he is even a lock to go to the WC, I think Hodgson will take a young midfield/forward group, with the exception of Stevie and Rooney, and probably look to have a more experienced lot at the back. Sterling, Sturridge, Henderson and Lallana are certainties barring injury so I am not sure he will be prepared to take a risk at the back on a youngster that is, for the most part, untried at that level. Cole's shift in Madrid would have done him no harm so is probably second in line to Baines at the moment due to his experience IMO.

I'm with you in your appreciation of Nigel Adkins. He's an excellent manager and has that ability to improve players under him. I'd love to see him managing my side, Villa.
