Word on the street is that 2005 Magarey Medallist Jeremy Clayton and Port Adelaide may have parted company. No details as yet, it's not official.

I don't think Central could justify their ability to recruit Clayton right on top of the deal they are doing with Troy Butcher, especially with a salaey cap that is bulging so much it's about to split at the seams.

I doubt that Clayton would leave Port, perhaps at the end of this season but not at this stage.

Calyton going - interesting - Port might not get all the players they wanted as according to the power from port magpies forum - Alvey has left to play in Wentworth after falling out about playing cricket finals and missing trial games - he was interviewed on a Sunrasia Radio Station about this year etc. I think however there is a little more to his departure than just cricket as alluded to on other topics where he has been mentioned. His 'spending' habits may have something to do with it also. His biggest problem will be getting back the sign on fee port handed him. I hope the dice roll the right way for him.
Strong rumours also continue rumble along about another big Port Magpies signing bailing out.

Another one that has been mentioned is his mum's ill health.

Alvey may have to spend more money to make back the money he lost.
Interesting to hear about Clayton leaving, will he play for another SANFL club? He seemed to be pretty happy at Port.

Let's just say I'm pretty confident in the story of Alvery taking a gamble in coming to Port.

If these two rumours - about the port players - are right then Port is starting to look a little shakey :toimonster:

I'd say Alvey's a done deal in playing someone else (probably Wentworth from all reports) but I'd want info from the club before I believe about Clayton.

& the Eagles would have room in their Salary Cap to poach a Magarey Medallist?
