In 1993 some FIFA Youth World Cup games were played at Hindmarsh. Amongst the Norwegian squad was a kid caled Petr Rudi (who later went on to play with Sheffield Wednesday). Througout the three games the Norwegians played, everytime he was passed the ball the crowd would go "RUUUUDIIII", just as they did at SANFL games.
The poor lad had no idea why he was being treated in such a way, but it spurred him on and he played quite well.
In their final game he was substituted with about 10 minutes remaining and as he left the pitch he got a huge cheer. He applauded the crowd for their support and entered the tunnel to a final "RUUUUUUDIIIII" cheer.
