5 teams fighting for 2 spots but who'll get there ?

Postby bayman » Mon Jul 02, 2007 10:05 pm

obviously the eagles, norwood, glenelg, port & south (in ladder order)are vying for 4th & 5th spots but which 2 teams in your opinions will get there ?

for me i believe eagles & glenelg
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

Eagles and Glenelg comfortably IMHO unless South pull something out of the hat, even if Norwood did turn it around they have a very difficult draw and would have to do something miraculous to make it.

Yeh Norwood get to play Centrals 3 times...twice at Elizabeth. North 3 times. Port 3 times....twice at Alberton and South 3 times twice at Noarlunga.
All teams played in the finals last year and we finished 7th !!
Who makes that draw !!!!

Its done so every team plays each other 5 times over 2 years.
North had the worse draw last year and Norwood had a good one.
Its reversed this year due to the 2 year thing, mind you we play the Dogs 3 times too but when I did a statistical analysis on it North had the worst draw last year (and still managed to end up equal top) and the best draw this year.
Norwoods run to their next bye:

v Centrals A
v North H
v Glenelg A
v South H
v Eagles H
v North A

Eagles definaltly with players back. My heart says Glenelg but my mind says like last year Port will sneak in, they'll knock off a couple of the top three later in the year.

Not for one moment is it an excuse but last year 3/4 teams we played three times made the finals...Centrals, North and South....

As Wedgie said we all play each club five times over 2 years....

it all evens out in the end...

One of the reason why I was quietly confident of playing finals this year because we play Port, Sturt, West and Eagles 3 times, based on last years performances (except for the Eagles) an easier draw compared to the four teams we played last year three times based on how they finished in 2005. Sturt were a fly in the ointment early though and defiantely upsetting my plans.

By no means do I think we are certainties to be playing finals yet. If South get their shit together they can still come home with a wet flag....
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

I'd been wondering the same thing recently Bayman, also what order would the 5 teams finish in? About a week ago I thought Norwood and Glenelg would make up the 5, now I reckon Glenelg and the Eagles. As for placings, Sturt may have to completely drop their bundle to fall out of the five from here, but a finish outside the top three may not be so improbable for the Blues. If the Bays keep up their form the top five could finish up as: Central, North, Glenelg, Sturt, Eagles. Very hard to predict from here with the rises and falls in form of so many sides. Port should be better placed than they are, and have lost many close ones this season, if they get a bit of confidence up they could mount a charge. Should be an interesting finish.
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail

North have played Centrals at Elizabeth and Prospect, we've got them at Prospect again. I think I'd rather have then at Elizabeth, at least we've been competitive there a couple of times, and won there once this century, Prospect hasn't been so kind to us

You better have another look SDK. The draw I have has: Rnd 6 Coopers Stadium, Rnd 13 Hamra Homes Oval, Rnd 22 Coopers Stadium. If your gunna have a sook  , at least get it right.

Ian, I'm more than happy to have the game at Prospect, although it would be nice if it was more of a contest than the last few times.

I think Sturt are a chance to drop out of the top three, replaced by the reigning premiers.

Glenelg are blessed with Douglas and if he gets the call up their form may drop, much the same with Massie at norwood, and us with Vince.

I think Sturt 4th spot with Norwoods percentage not preventing them from holding on to 5th spot

SDK, pretty sure Norwood play Central at the parade twice. Not that it makes much difference ATM.

sheesh, i just want sturt to make the 5, if we finish 5th a bees dick ill be happy....esp after last year and all the predictions before this year.

now with the surprising season as it is, ppl are expecting us to make it.

if we finish 3rd, i reckon the eags and port may sneak in ahead of the bays and legs. if we finish 4th or 5th, the eags will finish 3rd and the other finals spot to either port, bays and legs.

gonna be tighter than a nuns nasty

The way Norwood are playing Jimmy, noone will "sneak in" ahead of us, they'll romp it in ... We might just "sneak" past the spoon however ...

My tip is Eagles and Glenelg too

Would make for an interesting first round of finals:

ELIM Eagles v Glenelg
QUAL North v Sturt

Would get good crowds I reckon
In between signatures .....

A lot have predicted us to make the five, but results this year have made it far harder to set anything in stone like that.
