West clearly had the best of that term. Could have been further up if not for a bit of hungriness up forward. Eagles had chances but wasted them. Not a bad game at all; certainly a bit of intensity out there.

Bloods win it, 13.12 to 7.13. West stepped up a level in that quarter. Played with confidence. The bunnies are their own worst enemies up forwards.

Right, back home now in the warm, nursing a glass of red and waiting for my nuts to thaw. One final comment:

In a year in which the SANFL has demonstrated an ability to screw itself over time and time again, I have to say that scheduling the U/18 game on a Friday night at a suburban ground was a rare masterstroke. The atmosphere was great, despite the crowd being modest. That has to be better than starting the game at 9 AM in a mostly empty stadium. Kudos to you SANFL.

Well done Westies, obviously a gutsy effort from where they came from. Disappointing for the Eagles to be strong all year and not finish it off.
