Round 15 North vs Port @ Prospect. History in the making?

Postby therisingblues » Mon Jul 09, 2007 3:20 pm

Not completely sure of this, but I read a comment by Jackal on this forum that Port's record losing sequence is 7 games.
Port have now gone 7 games without a win, which includes a draw to the Bays. Since Round 6, when Port were in second position on the ladder with a 4-2 win/loss record, they have lost 6 and drawn one (in order: Central, Norwood, North, bye, Sturt, Glenelg, Eagles and South) to fall to their current postion of 7th with a 4-8-1 W/L/D record.
If the Roosters can get up this weekend, Port will have gone 8 games without a win. I am not 100% sure if this is a new record for that club, but it sounds about the mark.
My other question is, how can a side that was sitting in second place with a 4-2 record so suddenly have completely dropped their bundle? Unless something extraordinary happens, the Roosters shopuld romp this one in.
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail

At the start of the year i honestly thought port were a flag threat...look at them now. I would be interested what their average losing margin has been..particularly if you dont include their last game against North...two or three goals at a guess

Yep. Since their last win, Port's average margin (including the draw, minus the North game) has been 15 points. Overall since their last win - four goals.

Perhaps effectively 2nd bottom (accounting for the bye differences) and 1.5 losses above West. After North is their second bye, then Centrals, South at Noarlunga (again), Glenelg (currently in form) and Sturt. A long way to go yet, however, not totally inconceivable that they could be 4/13/1 by mid August. Given that, it would be up to Norwood to deliver Port their eight straight loss.

Like I said, long way to go yet.

I suggest that any Rooster supporters within the MPFP wear a hard hat to avoid what the the poor gentleman at Woodville oval had to endure several years ago. MPFP = Mobile Phone Flight Path.

A bye after the North game for Port, then Centrals.

Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

7 games without a win covers it pretty well I think.

I have to agree, seeing the Magpies lose each week is as good as seeing the powder puffs and the fruit tingles lose.
