Lol

Can't wait!!!

How far into the review of the $80m will there be some form of media frenzy, afl proposal etc etc about a major change to state leagues, which I'm sure the state leagues will agree to regardless with the threat of losing $80m over there head

Oldest trick in the book

I think the SANFL is independent enough to only take on the recommendations that are in the best interest of SA football.

We did an editorial on it for FOOT-e TIMES DAILY this morning

http://footetimes.com/foot-e-times-daily-thur-24th-feb-2015/

Highlighted were a couple of examples of AFL behaviour towards state leagues that do not bode well for this review.

Hope I am wrong.

The point made regarding ANZAC day weekend fixtures is well made, and worth concern and head scratching.

The AFL article referred to by PhilH in his article (link duplicated below), on the AFL's insertion into WA Day, payed no attention to the effect on the WAFL crowds. As Phil said, "not massive increase in AFL turn up given the Eagles sell out regardless of time slot" and asks "The AFL web site declared it was a winner for WA footy. How?"

The AFL's author seemed quite chuffed that their own ".....crowd of 37,781 will ensure that AFL footy on WA Day becomes a regular fixture" despite their acknowledgement of the day having ".....traditionally been the WAFL's big day of the year with derbies between East Fremantle and South Fremantle, and West Perth and East Perth....." .

How was WA footy the winner? Well, Phil, I'm stuffed if I know.
