Media Release – 20th February 2006
Panthers sneak behind enemy lines, again The South Adelaide Football Club will tonight head into the heart of enemy territory and train in Glenelg.
As part of a varied pre-season schedule thus far, senior coach Robert Pyman will tonight put his charges through their paces in the confined spaces of Wigley reserve in preparation for the upcoming season.
Tonight’s session will again see the entire senior squad train again at an alternate venue, an approach that Pyman say’s the players have really enjoyed since training began in November.
“We’ve tried to vary our training venues a fair bit this pre-seasonâ€. Pyman said. “So far we have trained at Thebarton Oval, Port Noarlunga Surf Life Saving Club, Bonython Park and Encounter Bay and now at Wigley Reserve. The players have really embraced the concept of alternate training venues. Whilst we still train at home three times a week, being able to get away and mix things up has been fantastic. You play half your season away from the familiarity of your home ground so to have the players out of their comfort zone this early in the season keeps them mentally fresh and can only benefit them in the long run, especially our young players.â€
With season 2006 fast approaching the Panther’s will continue to prepare for battle over the next few weeks. A two-day camp and the trial game period are now all that stands between now and the season proper.
All media are invited to attend tonight’s training session at Wigley reserve from 6:00pm. The session is expected to last 45 minutes. Robert Pyman and all senior players will be available to the media at the conclusion of training.
