At this stage of the season would have to change some team nominations, Earl from Goodwood, Wasley from TTG, Heath from Uni to name a couple. Still would love to see this team play the Vic's.

would any from Div 2 get a mention? Maybe Banes and sandford from PHOS, burrows from PNU, few from Port (names escape me), Tasborski, quigley, winstanley, juniper from shocs, jolly and a few others from Modbury??

Check the first issue of this topic, i wrote a team out. C.Mitchell from Modbury was in at that stage in the back pocket. Few others could make it now but still not sure if they would puch out Div 1 players.

FF: Cook Lister Smith
(Broad) (Rocs) (Gepps)

HF: Cutting Earl Chambers
(Sals Nth) (Good) (TTG)

C: Wicks Casey Horndhart
(TTG) (Broad) (Broad)

HB: Pitt Stevens Spencer
(TTG) (Broad) (Good)

FB: Mitchell Mortimer Radetti
(Mod) (Sals Nth) (Gaza)

Ruck: Golding Bartel Chadwick
(Edtwn) (Good) (Rocs)

Int: Gibson Haythorpe Demasi
(TTG) (Gaza) (Good)

Adjusted as per half way mark of season. Would be good to hear this being discussed on the morning show this week as Div 1 have the bye. And Under 23 game this week hopefully they win and its the last we see of this Under 23 crap.

Any thoughts???

That looks like a cracking side! Would be a pretty quick and slick game of footy created by those 21!!

Would also generate a lot more interest than the U/23's concept does....

Point taken, he was in my side until injury. I'll name him on a 4 man bench, like the AFL.

My point exactly, apart from the people involved there is not alot of positive talk around re the Under 23 comp. Put the suggested side on the park and i reckon State Footy would be at the top of the agenda.

The real problem with the U23 concept is the publicity these players are receiving. Most of them would not make the second or third picked open side yet all the talk on Grassroots and the Sportsbeat centres around these U23s which elevates their status. Bring back an open side and reward the Best players in the comp with State selection not those picked just because they fit under the age ceiling.

Think you will find also that half these under 23 state reps, probably won't be playing at the same club next year anyways. Either hunt down other teams for cash or country money cos 'i played state footy' mentality, most clubs in Div 1 would know about 3 or 4 are quality players but the others would not be a consistent match winner which is what the Open Age team does have.

Sure, if you are happy to let 2nd tier players represent your state.

Interesting debate? How many of the current U23 side would make an open State side and who are they?
