Lacked some height and had little answer to South's zone, especially in the final term.

North supporters would be frustrated with that performance.

Not frustrated, we did well to get as close as we did, South were a better drilled, skilled and coach side side today, even though the margin was closish for most the day it felt like the Mighty 'Thers were a 10 goal better side.

Kudos to the couple of south players I chatted to on their way out (including Darth Vader), top blokes and much friendlier than the Crows peanuts 2 weeks ago.

KInd of interesting reading a lot of North supporters view of the game, I don't think enough are giving credit to South who are a very good side and well coached. I picked South to win 31-40 before the game purely on paper and that was probably a fair if not less than fair result with their % of play and use of the ball compared to ours.

I suspected that Ah Chee has a broken arm but not sure given that he came back to the sidelines. Perhaps a dislocated wrist. Whatever it is, his bad luck continues and now Fraser Dale may get a chance. Think Sam Overall is destined for a spell as well.

A question for @spell_check, if he's still about ...

North's only behind was rushed. When was the last time a team kicked no behinds in a match?

Marlon Motlop only bloke for North with more than 20 possies, besides Marlon I thought Ryswyk was the standout player, looked a level above the rest of North players reverting to try and do everything himself late in the game as he couldn't rely on others.

Team stats showed we landed 17 more tackles which makes sense as we were chasing players most of the time.

Inside 50s: 43 to South, 29 to North.

At least the umps looked after us giving us 3 more frees than South.

First to the ball stats? The free kick count has absolutely no context unless you know this.....

North were afraid to take risks, they played too safe for the conditions. Playing with no overlap allows South to press causing North to kick to South spare man in defence. Due to the lack of overlap and playing direct it made hard for forward movement. North rarely switch all day to get out of South Press, when they did it was slow movement. When North at their best they're one of the better teams in the comp, but its worse is one of the worse teams in the comp. There's no middle ground. North went small today probably due to the conditions expected and South aren't extremely a tall team.

Rd 20 2012 - South 10.1 to Norwood 14.16
There's only one other I know about; Rd 8 1993 - Port 19.2 to Eagles 14.20

Joel Cross received 8 frees, the most I can recall. He could have had 20. Despite the frees, this did not stop Norths plan as the holding off the ball largely went unpenalised. That said, the umpires were very consistent yesterday.

Some players were held up in tackles for 2 to 3 seconds and it was called play on. One bloke got tackled with the ball for about .1 of a second and got penalised holding the ball. So bloody inconsistent.
