Casterton Steeplechase yesterday...WTF

Did anyone see the Casterton Steeple yesterday race 6. They dead set ran out into a paddock into a mowed section out the back of the track jumped a few steeples then came back throught the middle of the track (crossed the dirt track on inside) then came out onto the course proper at the 100 m mark..... I have never seen anything like it......

There were actaully cows in the paddock... I couldnt beleive that they would let them go round in this situation.....surely there is a safety issue....

Has anyone seen any other examples of strange tracks....

the same thing happens at the 'famous figure 8' steeple at mornington minus the cows, i'm sure the cows would have been fenced away from the horses actual racing track & at warrnambool dont they go through a paddock or something like that ?
