End of season movements. FA, trades, bullshit etc.

Talk on the national game

interesting.

so basically there would be some sort of guarantee as to what value that pick has? i.e the crows this year will finish 6-10 so if they trade a pic for next year, there is an expectation that the pick corresponds to that range, and if we win the flag they would still get a pic in that range instead of the last pic?

The big one for me is players getting a say in trades. I dont think they should (until they are a free agent of course)

As far as I'm aware in the US for example

If the Crows finished 6-10 and traded their first round pick to Brisbane for the next year but improved dramatically to go 20-3, Brisbane would be stuck getting the ordinary pick which would be the late entry first round pick from the crows 17-20

If that makes sense

Yeah sorry I misread your post

To me the insurance part reads as just another way the AFL can manipulate things to suit their needs as I think there will be a range that the pic is worth and from there it will be AFL discretion as to where the club gets in that range

Surely they'll just copy the NBA system of protected picks.

Bump*

Time to get this thing running again.

Dixon has nominated Port and the GC have nominated the price. 2 first rounders if you dont mind.

Trelor looks set to head to Collingwood. Huge get for the pies if it can be pulled off.

I think so. With the draft the worst for some time there'll be plenty of shuffling around of players and picks this year.

Are you ******* kidding? Two first-rounders for someone who is unproven for the most part?

I'd give any club two first round picks for an out-and-out gun though...

Yep, will only be a few clubs interested due to his price tag and only wanting to stay in Melbourne. Saints, Roos and Carlton the front runners at this stage but ive got a feeling the Hawks will swoop late hence why they have held off signing Lake

Carlton are the front runners. Probably get him in the PSD unless others meet the bombers demands.

Its all up to Jake, if he chooses Carlton we will lose him for nothing in the PSD. Indications are he is seriously looking at a few other offers, we need this to happen to get something half decent for him. If clubs are offering similar money I would think he would go to a club on the up or around the mark rather than leave on basket case to join another

The way his brain operates it wouldn't surprise me if he requests a trade to Essendon.
