Posted by Mal in a deleted post -
This would be the best Monday Meeting I have seen on paper
Three Heats of the Salisbury Cup are a feature.

Look at some of the horses going around on a Monday

OZTREOS
NUTHA LIGNUM because of the driver
SAVED A CORKA
LARACHELLE

and 2 MALPETS in one race ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh NO

RACE 6
BAD BOY NITRO V URAJOKIN

BBNITRO
This season
21 runs
13 wins
8 places

URAJOKIN
This season
27 runs
14 wins
11 places

And the star reinsman all in one race [brackets my ratings top 4 in order]

BB NITRO w hill [4]
URAJOKIN boof webster [3]
FIRE + BRIMSTONE ryan hryhorec [2]
SHOESHINE hollywood harding [1]

What a race
The only driver missing is Simon Jones

What a meeting
And a great drawcard for the club, I am going TOMorrow

LATE MAL
----------

R2-7 NUTHA LIGNUM [$3-50]
I think[1] OZTREOS will be $1-20 and unbackable
BUT the 2230m may be a concern for the young champ
[7] NUTHA LIGNUM with Simon Jones in the cart will get a glorious
run behind the favourite in the run.
I envisage NL coming at OZ in the last 100m but prob too late
PLACE

R7-5 MCLENNAN [$1-90]
If we get close to evens a good bet to win
WIN + EXOTICS

R8-8 CARNIVAL ROSE [$5-00]
[7] LARACHELLE looks the winner but will be about $1-20
CARNIVAL ROSE is a good nag, and worth a ticket in this race
PLACE

Theres a few shorties today that I norMALly tip , but I not convinced at the real
short odds if we have any value
They all look winners BUT ???
THEY ARE
R2-1 OZTREOS
R5-8 SAVED A CORKA [BAYMAN HAS IT 1/14 ]
R8-7 LARACHELLE
I would be inclined to lay them all on GFAIR if they are $1-20 or shorter

Good luck

MAL - You're not serious?? Either you are joking or you have no real concept of driving!!
For what it matters - my views on it...

Last week S Jones kicked away 400m from home and Gunbarrel Straight got out about 250 - 275m from home and just won (By the way - how did GS go up the sprint lane today?? did it get past the $60/1 pole horse who had done all the work in the race up the straight?? I wonder if you now think kicking away was the right thing - maybe you can answer that??)

This week.. D Harding kicked coming into the straight about 175 - 200m from home and Nutha Lignum used the momentum of the corner to get out at the top of the straight. D Harding drove the race 100% different and he actually went 30.1 seconds down the back and tried to kick just as the sprint lane came into play.. good drive, beaten by a better horse!!

One of those shortys got beat in my 3 Betfair risks, hopefully G won of OZTREOS
SAVED A CORKA
I thought it was risky if $1-20
TAB paid $1-40 [which I thought was its price]
BAYMAN rated it $1-07

BAYMAN creams MAL :)

You just basically stated that GS isn't brave, which i do agree, but then you go on to say that kicking away in that particular race was the wrong thing to do? Wouldn't you want to get a weak horse out before it has to???? GS is known for a 100-150mtr sharp sprint and Petria died off quicker than you think so he was never going to be able to hold the winner in anyway.

How do you get momentum coming off a turn? You lose 2-3 mtrs when you come off on the corner yuuuuuuuu!!!!! It wouldnt have made any difference even if he had to wait for s/lane the winner gave the 2nd one windburn within 80mtrs.

STRUTTER welcome to the Simon Jones fan club.
SJ makes good/fair/poor decisions as a driver
But for a rookie driver he makes infinitely many more good
decisions compared to bad decisions
20 wins in about 120 odd drives is further testiMONEY to his ability.
Imagine if he drove more good horses instead of goats.
The pity is now he will be lost to NZ and a loss to the industry.
He will be missed but we still have KP/CHAMBO/WATTO/HOLLYWOOD HARDING.

SCD I can see where you are going in your discussions on the NUTHA LIGNUM
drives the last 2 runs but overall SIMMO has paid his way in his short and illustrious career

You Blokes Have BOTH MISSED the Point!!!!!!
If Simmo Sits UP, Runs 30.5 to 31 which he could of, Petria would of been making him go any quickier. Keeps petria at his wheel at worst. Goes for home at 200 metre mark, Would of dashed 6mts in front an WON!!!!!!
Yesterday showed that how he dashed up the straight to quick. (Only thing is if NL is better with a sit, Hasn't won when lead for JB stable)

Where would we be in life if the LATE MALS were taken from us. I know you are one of the 1st people to check them out each TROT meeting and I must confess you only beat me to them cos you wake up earlier.
What would blokes like Joey, Strutter, Robber, etc do without the GREAT man. :prayer: :prayer:

I didn't criticise myself buddy.. maybe the word you're looking for is contradict??
What I did say is how good did it get up the lane?? It didn't.. simple, it takes a while to get going - I reckon you guys have over estimated it's ability.. it doesn't go "BANG" but takes time to wind up and is needs luck in running (it's no star)

mind you I still would rather have my %$#t for brains then have been in the same room as Simmo and an ex local resident of globe derby who was at the time best friends with D Harding's girl :D :D

How do you get momentum coming off a turn? You lose 2-3 mtrs when you come off on the corner yuuuuuuuu!!!!! It wouldnt have made any difference even if he had to wait for s/lane the winner gave the 2nd one windburn within 80mtrs.

Momentum is quite simple - Simmo allowed the horse to drift off the fence as it was turning into the straight (i.e. he had allowed the horse to gain it's straight line momentum before the corner had finished) in fact he timed it perfect to get a good run off the corner to be honest to enable him best to maximise the straight line speed... you for one strutter should know about momentum off a corner, you didn't mind being 3 / 4 / 5 wide on the last corner....
Not sure where you are coming in terms of waiting for the sprint lane, I never ever said NL wasn't going to win yesterday and it wouldn't have made any difference either way - never said it was.. just said D Harding's drive was not the same as Simmo's in terms of when they kicked away..

Either way - Simmo will never be as good a driver as you were Strutter....
I honestly think it's pretty fair to say you were one of the better junior drivers to go through in SA in the past 10 years....

You Blokes Have BOTH MISSED the Point!!!!!!

Centreman - the only point I was trying to make is that in relation to yesterday's race and D Harding - he went 30.1 down the back (over half a second slower then simmo the week before) which meant there was nothing wrong with his drive... He kicked for home 200m from home as they entered the home straight, which was a better tactical drive then simmo the week before..
BUT you make a good point about the horse not leading and winning yet!

As STRUTTER said last week - they are on next week.. move on and worry about the next winner not the last one....
